My Dottolone/Pantorre headcanons that nobody needs nor care about but are deeply important to me
To make things clearer in what I assume will be a semi-long list or smth, I’ll make a color code
Blue means this is supported by the canon to some extent
Purple means this is NOT supported by the canon and is just me playing with my Dolls yippee
Oh and pink is for NSFW/Dead Dove kind of stuff just in case some people are sensitive to it :)
Pantalone is taller than Dottore — who’s already not a short man by any means — , by a few centimeters or so, but whenever the doctor wears his extravagant high heels, he becomes the tallest of the two.
Pantalone is gender non conforming in his presentation. He takes great pride in his appearance, and is very careful about how he appears to others . As a visionless man, he has to use every tool at his disposition to survive in this world , and beauty is one of those . He can dress masculine, for sure , Fontainian , Snezhnayan and on some occasion Liyuean attires are part of his repertoire, but I think he can also sometimes go for a well fitted dress or a skirt. He also has very good fashion sense .
Dottore on the other hand can’t really be bothered . He likes dressing pretty sometimes, because who doesn’t, but most of the time he just defaults to the same blue shirt and pants . ( I’m putting this in blue because dawg how can you have 50+ segments and have the same drip everytime -1 for webtorre )
They both wear a kind of mask . Dottore has his facial mask, of course, to cover up his scars , and Pantalone has his gloves to cover up his heavy hand injuries sustained during his childhood.
Dottore is older than Pantalone .
To expand on the point above , in my hc that completely betray canon and idgaf , both are mortals . I truly think that making Dottore immortal is a disservice to his character .
Pantalone is in his early forties though it doesn’t show very much aside from the white in his hair that he despises . I hc him to be this age because of what he presumably has accomplished , which is turning Snezhnaya into an economic powerhouse, which takes time irl.
Dottore is either in his mid-fifties or early sixties . Yeah this is old man yaoi pure and true . Depends on what I’m writing on the day, but I really like the idea of him starting to get old . He has done a lot of things in his life, and he is starting to run out of time . When you live your life « carefree » ( fighting dragons with your mind or idfk having ruin guards as your main interest ) that tends to take its toll. He’s running out of time, he knows it, so it adds desperation and more recklessness to whatever he does .
Take a good look at the blue haired freak and tell me he doesn’t have body modifications . This man probably has self made dick piercings or some shit.
They both aren’t pasty white 🙏 Pantalone is tanned for a Liyuean, even after years of living in Snezhnaya, and Dottore is brown. I will die on the hill that black washing doesn’t exist, amen.
Dottore has autism . Putting this one in blue because he checks every fucking box . Special interest that is all consuming ? Inability to read the room or form social bonds ? Quirky way of talking or moving ? Yeah. Also I’m diag with autism, doesn’t make me a psychiatrist ofc , it’s just to say that I don’t mean Dottore is autistic in a mean way. It’s actually quite cool to see an important character with your disability, even if nobody fucks with him lol
They both are gay men . Dottore because he has blue hair and pronouns , Pantalone because I have a vibe idk . I think Pantalone could definitely lay with women, but imo he’s more attracted to men.
Constant negative reaffirmation . They are in a consensual relationship, but they are definitely not good for each other in any normal way . This will be expanded on the further we go down the list.
It’s you and me against the world . This ties into the constant negative reaffirmation . They both aren’t hated by every Fatui, and there’s a good chance they don’t have any external friends . They only have each other, which made them develop this idea that in the end, the only person they can rely on is the other outcast . Everytime one tries to open up and be friendly towards another harbinger , and that it is met with either disdain or distrust , the other one will be by their side and telling them « see ? It’s only you and me. They all hate us. »
This definitely has some impact on their sex life , with Pantalone telling Zandik that he’s the only one that could love him with a face like this , and Zandik telling him in return that he’s the only one that sees him as a person and not walking moneybags with pretty holes.
They both have no idea what a normal family is . We can infer that from Pantalone’s backstory crumbs with the fact that he grew up in abject poverty — which realistically means that his family could have fallen victim to many things ( alcoholism , overworking parents that then can’t be there for their kid , early infant death, illnesses , violence , separation from parents by the state , etc. ) — and Dottore literally got chased from his village so … Since they don’t know what a normal family, or what normal love is, they assume their constant abuse of each other has to be love .
To expand on this point , they don’t abuse the other out of villainy . To them, it is justified and normal, and if one were to ask the other if they felt they abused them, they would not say so. Dottore may abuse Pantalone by having this mentality of « family is suffering, everybody needs to do something to have their place in it » ( kind of like with Columbina ) so asking a lot of monetary favors for his experiments , or requesting Pantalone to follow him on a whim when he leaves Snezhnaya, even if that can be detrimental to the northland ( it would be more so to show him his experiments his money contributed to, as a way to say « hey, look, I’m useful aren’t I ? » ) . Meanwhile, I hc Pantalone to be extremely controlling. Living in an environment where everything was subject to change made him paranoiac , and thus he wants to control everything that happens with his lover . Could be asking him constantly what he’s doing with his money, where he’s going, what’s this person he talked to , etc. Dottore would oblige because he’d feel finally valued and loved , even though Pantalone’s controlling behavior would seem to all overbearing .
They are codependent to a point . They do not need to be glued to each other 24/7, they are grown emotionally constipated adults. But they need the reassurance the other can provide . Dottore needs someone to tell him he’s worth something, that he can be loved, and that he’s not an outcast anymore . Pantalone needs someone to see how ugly he is inside , that he is not just a walking prettt moneybag and still adore him .
They are never open with their emotions . It had to take a long time before they shared their names to each other . Even more time before they started having sex, and even more than that to admit that they felt something for the other . Communication never is an issue though. They seem to have understood how the other worked and when they make them mad or sad .
They find kinship in the fact that their homeland exiled and despise them . Dottore has been casted out from Sumeru TWICE and had Nahida tell him to his face « harbinger of Snezhnaya » , while Pantalone grew up in the land of Mora dirt poor , without Morax’s help ( which he feels is a betrayal ) , and is now hated due to his attempt at inference with the Liyuean government.
They bicker all the time . True to their Commedia Del’Arte roles , the doctor and the Regrator bicker 24/7 . To the other Fatuis it looks like a dysfunctional partnership, to them it’s refreshing to finally be an ass to someone and know they enjoy it. Pantalone has to pretend to be polite every waking second of his life, and Dottore doesn’t have anyone else that talks to HIM ( second harbinger by strenght alone ) this way . It’s refreshing .
Pantalone is a socialite . He interacts a lot with the high Snezhnayan society , and that is very helpful for his job ( as I think that Snezhnaya as a whole is inspired by tsarist Russia and if yk yk ) . With his charisma and beauty, he quickly earned the title of Snezhnograd’s Darling. Dottore very rarely attends the parties .
This is going to sound weird but I honest to god believe Dottore to be a leftist . BEFORE !!! Before I get thrown stones at , let me explain. I don’t mean leftist as yk general progressivism or shit, I mean leftist as in a more anarchist sense . Because what is his end goal ? To destroy the Heavenly Principles , the gnosises , and according to the Big Ice Stone I Forget the Name Of the Tsaritsa genuinely asks him to burn away the old world and its order ( so archons and all ) . I do believe that what he is doing is not out of moral purity of course — this is a very, very spiteful man that has been wronged one too many times . But with the way he talked to the traveler in 6.3 , his experiments in Dar-Al-Shifa and that one event with the LYING ASS CAT ??? I believe he’s got some good in him. He is a very logical man . The hurt he inflicted in dar-al-shifa was in the end to cure Eleazar, he did horrible things yes, but achieved his goal. He is not cruel ( as proved by him healing the other student, bc we have to remember that this LYING ASS CAT cannot be trusted ) he just does whatever it takes to achieve his goal. And for an outcast, wouldn’t the greater goal be to create a world with no gods to banish you ? No principles that create sickness , death, hurt ? Living free ? Ding ding ding that’s literally the Grand Soir ( anarchist idea ) applied to a fantasy world : that man is somehow left wing, not by intention but by what he aims to do . Put this one in blue bc I mean that’s literally the theory applied to this world so idk
I think Pantalone to some degree could also be read as left …? But definitely authoritarian. He kind of aims to create a welfare state which is a very left wing idea so ???? I think he is fine with class division and general nobility , but that he still wants everybody to live with dignity and him to be the top dog of this world . What I’m trying to say is that I think he wants to be « better » than Rex Lapis and the way he found to do that is simply to make sure nobody starves under his rule . Once again, very spiteful man not doing this out of moral purity but simply because they want to prove they’re better than the system.
Pantalone is more feared than Dottore by the average citizen. The way I see it, Dottore is a boogeyman. What are the chances you’ll meet this man in your life if you don’t have a vision ? Even if you have one, how unlucky would you have to be ? He is a lurking shadow, he is something you tell your kids to be wary about « be good or the doctor will snatch you » kind of way. Pantalone ? The Regrator is in every more you spend, every contract you sign , he is the very real and tangible fear of poverty. He influences economy to a scale no mortal has done before . He is something everybody feels : the northland bank, the adventurer’s guild… he is omnipresent . Every day, everyone in Teyvat lives under his thumb . If he wants to destroy your country’s economy, he very well can. That is a real fear, that is something most common folk would regard with anxiousness .
They engage in self destructive behaviors. Dottore , due to his age, is becoming more and more reckless and aggressive in his endeavors which ofc puts him in harm’s way . Pantalone encourages that, because he knows what it is to be truly driven, and to die without achieving your goal or even trying hard enough would be the worst thing to happen to Zandik. As for Pantalone, I hc him as having an alcohol problem of some kind . When you’re in a high responsibility job, a socialite and you know for a fact any of your coworkers could snap your neck, stress can get to you — and I think he drinks for that, because he sees it as a lesser evil than drugs . Drugs are socially frowned upon, unlike alcohol which is seen as a mark of sociability . He gets quite the nasty tongue when he is under the influence .
In the bedroom , they compliment each other quite well. Dottore is a masochist, and prefers to take on submissive roles , to finally have someone tell him what to do and how to be a good boy. Meanwhile, Pantalone is dominant, and gets to act out his violent fantasies . They are both switches, but the dynamic is always the same : Pantalone is in control, Dottore is not. I also headcanon they both have a corruption kink, with seeing how low they both can fall ( I.e. Dottore making Pantalone participates in human dissections , Pantalone making the doctor act submissively to him even outside of the bedroom, etc .)
Ill maybe make a part 2 , but that’s all I can think of rn haha . I love those old men so much ughhh
