What happens when Scrapper, Hook, Bonecrusher, Scavenger, Long Haul, and Mixmaster join forces? This beer happens silly and they form Devastator and fuck your tastebuds up all day with their 8% ABV goodness. For as much as I love the Transformers movies, I’m actually glad that Michael Bay had nothing to do with this beer because chances are if he did, the bottle would have exploded in my face and the beer would have rushed out like a fucking tsunami and swept my body out to sea. I was going to try and make a joke about the actual art on the bottle but honestly, I have no fucking clue what’s even going on. There’s basically a ram diving out of fire with government buildings in the background which I’m guessing is a symbol for anarchy or the collapse of the system but to me it looks more like what the world would have looked like if Ben Carson actually won the presidency. I haven’t had a good doppelbock in a while so I’m psyched that this beer ended up being as good as it is and I can see why it has such a cult following in Utah. A strong caramel and almost mossy flavor start this off with a nice mix of sweet and mustiness before some toffee and candied sugar mixes in with a slight alcohol presence before ending with a mix of all those flavors. This really is a solid example of the style and if you haven’t tried too many of the style or any for that fact, this should be on your radar because it’s excellent. Pick this up regardless of your level of drinking but just keep in mind that no punches are pulled with this one so tighten your jaws ya pussies!
