Downsizing feels how I think a bad trip would feel. Like if you took some weird things and then sat at a table and wrote the first thing that came to your mind. It was not bad. But it was weird. Very weird.

I watched Downsizing and found it to be a worthwhile interesting story. It’s listed as a Comedy, Drama, Sci-fi, which I don’t really see. It’s a tragedy foremost with an unobtrusive secondary romance. It’s a damn sad movie with a few odd moments of hope against a backdrop of despair. 

It’s the type of story whose oddity keeps you watching it until you’re finally invested in the story by the end.

The pacing can be a bit slow at times, it probably would have benefited from being less than 2 hours, and there’s some questions that were never raised nor answered about the downsizing concept, but overall it was a worthwhile 2 hrs. It’s not the type of movie I would re-watch because I’ve gotten all I can out of it, but it made for an unique movie night.
