one pro and one con of dating each of the poets!
☆ charlie !
-> pro: knows when to shut up and listen, knows when you are overwhelmed and needs him to tone down a little bit
-> con: super popular and extroverted, so often times you have to fight for his time and attention. its not like he doesn't wanna be near you - he does. but his social life is huge and everyone wants to talk to him all the time.
☆ knox !
-> pro: super romantic and sweet, loves big gestures and public displays of love. he'll give you his kidney if you ask. always listens to you and makes you feel loved.
-> con: too damn intense! his constant quoting of love poems, comparing you both to lovers from plays and old books, reading poems out loud, serenading you outside your house, giving you big gifts at school is just... too overwhelming most of the time (unless you match the energy).
☆ meeks !
-> pro: level headed and focused. whenever you have a problem, he's willing to fix it - and he succeeds most of the time. his rationality grounds you down.
-> con: everything is a subject of study to him, even you. you caught him analyzing you countless times, as if you were a difficult math equation or a complex puzzle. doesn't really relates to your emotions deeply.
☆ pitts !
-> pro: reliable. is always there when you need him, you haven't even ended the call yet and he's already at your doorstep.
-> con: doesn't take initiative, at all. you want a date? you have to tell him, otherwise he won't plan anything. want a beautiful plushie? you have to nudge in the right direction by mentioning it every now and then - which drains the relationship quite fast
☆ neil !
-> pro: a ray of sunshine, just looking at him already gives you energy to keep going. he's passionate and see beauty everywhere, life becomes lighter and beautiful with him around, as if there's a calming soundtrack playing all the time.
-> con: is always sacrificing himself, as if his life is less valuable then anyone else's, like canceling his plans in order to stay with you, ignoring his health to nurse you, giving up literally any aspect of himself for you - and to other people too in a lesser amount.
☆ todd !
-> pro: very sensitive to feelings, so when you're a little off he catches it instantly and acts accordingly.
-> con: so shy, awkward and easily overwhelmed it's difficult to not get annoyed sometimes, specially if you're outgoing and extroverted. you understand he has his limitations but you've had to cancel a handful of plans and invitations because you know he wouldn't go with you (or would spend the whole gathering looking nervous).
☆ cameron !
-> pro: his best quality is his dedication, and he uses that on you too. he's always trying his best, always taking - mental - notes of what you like and dislike, what makes you happy and sad, it kinda makes you feel like a school subject sometimes, but it's so endearing and considerate you can't feel anything other than loved.
-> con: has some unresolved ugly feelings, like envy. so when those feelings take over him - by maybe being reminded again he's not the smartest or the most popular and has to compensate by working his ass off - he will take it on you. being rude and mean, ignoring you and causing unnecessary fights. he does apologize later but the damage is already done.
I think that the reason why Neil grabbed Todd’s poetry book and ran across the room with it in the no scene is because he felt like he was a little flustered and he felt that he was being too flirty and the conversation was getting a little too intimate, and so he impulsively took his book to be funny and almost undo the tension in the room on a whim
Languages I think the Dead Poets would have learned *aside from Latin*
Source: Trust me bro
Neil: Italian, French, maybe archaic Greek (big drama guy)
Todd: Archaic Greek, Polish, Russian (literature reasons)
Pitts: Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic (he's the coolest actually)
Knox: Hebrew (family reasons), French, German
Charlie: Spanish, French, Swahili, Arabic OR Farsi (he wants the seccy languages)
Meeks: Japanese, Spanish, Mandarin, German (he's on wanikani RN)
Cameron: Economic Mandarin..., German, Spanish, Dutch (self explanatory)
In my mind, they furthered their linguistic education
charlie and ginny refusing to send their kids to boarding school because they don't want them to ever go through what they did that's it thats the post
Ok but if Neil lived, the pinnacle of Todd’s character development would be him confessing to Neil. Neil wants him to be passionate about something, to take a chance.
my favorite moment between anderperry is when neil asks todd to join and todd rejects it becuz he says that he can't talk/read the poems and instead of being like 'well just try it out' neil goes out of his way to ask the other members if todd can join WITHOUT READING
ITS SUCH AN AMAZING MOMENT
becuz like neil is obviously pushing todd into trying something new and taking a chance, but he's still understanding of how todd feels;;; like he's still so considerate
todd says he cant join becuz he cant read; he doesn't say he doesn't want to becuz of the other members or becuz of any real reason outside of that; and neil finds a way for him to be able to join the other poets and hang out with them, and be friends, and be a part of something, without forcing him to change himself
its why that deleted scene of him reading a poem was so important -- becuz he made the choice!! that was him!! he chose to read it!!! neil just opened the door for him to be comfortable -- neil just showed him it was possible to be a part of something, to have friends, to be happy, without changing who he was and THAT was what allowed him to grow into himself
its why i think neil had a bigger influence than keating becuz yeah keating gave him that push during class; but neil gave a solid support/path to be better; there wasn't any pressure on him, if he didn't speak, the poets wouldn't care, neil wouldn't care;;; but if he chose to, they'd listen
guys. guys I don't have much time but I got something very important to say. listen to me.
Meeks is a vocaloid fan. ok. bye.
