Anyway so, guess who is back into DR
I was thinking of Celesgami and I thought of some lovely angst.
So, the story is the same canon one, but Taeko ans Byakuya are secretly a couple. Not that they keep it secret, more of... It doesn't come up in conversations, nor do they try to hide it.
Byakuya had promised her to get them out safely and alive. He never actually kept secrets from her. Even when he intervened with Fujisaki's death, Taeko knew and said nothing. Everything he found and analyse, Taeko would be the first to know. He also knew her real name, the real her.
Despite it all, Taeko still went ahead with Killing both Ishimaru and Yamada. During her trial, Byakuya defended her until the very end, stubbornly refusing to believe Taeko would betray him like this. Even when the whole story came to light, Byakuya remained in denial. He only realised that all this was real, when Taeko hugged him (in front of everyone nonetheless-) and bid him farewell. It was the only time he allowed himself to show her affection in public, as he hugged her back, telling her he loves her.
Even years later, while working for the future foundation, he still mourns her. He is still angry at her, but mostly at himself for not seeing the signs, for not protecting her properly, even from herself. He sometimes even makes her favourite tea in the morning out ld habit, then he just has it on his desk, as he doesn't like tea and is not going to drink ot himself. The sweet aroma reminds him of her, though, makes him feel that she is still there..
The Baloney-verse was introduced along with the Critics (an offshoot of the Watchers), Professor Brent Wilcox (because Reed Richards was busy), and campaction receptical in The Sensational She-Hulk 14, cover date April 1990. They were created by Steve Gerber and Bryan Hitch. The issue was one of the rare times Jen was able to revert to human form. When was the last time you heard your own voice?
Here, have a REALLY world-worn Spamton, who has no time for anyone else's shenanigans. 😼
I'm REALLY proud of how this turned out! 😁 There's a few nitpicks I itch to fix, but I need to learn how to just FINISH something without it being "perfect" (ADHD be damned!).
I mixed realism & cartoonism, to reflect Spamton's chaotic mental state, along with synthetic & organic textures (even paradoxically mixing brittle with soft) to emphasize the horror of being a living puppet.
The details tell stories, if you stop & look at each one, & think about what might have caused this or that type of mark... 😶
