Things like the Land of Lee plot make me wonder how insanely horrific concepts can be used in Ninjago and we just continue on. What a crazy idea, executed to somehow still be pg and also manage to be done well. Ninjago world building going bonkers strikes again because my brain is going in a million places for how Lee as a concept can go I love it so much

Apparently it’s been a hot like. 3 years since i posted ocs on this site so here u go, I hope ppl like ‘em! One of my long term goals since I became an artist is to make comics and books!

birthday drawing for myself this year HAHAHHAHAH it’s been a tough year, and i havent drawn a birthday thing for myself in like. 10 years. let me have this

- I’ve been working on Lost and Found Children since I was in middle school. it’s been a very long time but you may have seen me draw them occasionally! - TMP on the other hand I’ve only been working on for 3 years. 

both LAFC and TMP are so incredibly different, in both tone, time period, and subject matter, but they tackle certain ideas and themes that I’ve always wanted to explore. However, i can’t throw all of those ideas into the same story 🙄 otherwise it’ll be like a grossout 1970s dinner party smorgasbord no one asked for haha. both stories have been through many iterations! i’ll hopefully share the juicy details in a later post or somewhere else.

i always cite my first convention in 2014 as a turning point in my career as an artist. before then i would say my gallery comprised of healthy amounts of 50% originals and 50% fanart. i never really had a large following like my idols or like other people my age who were far more skilled 🙈 HAHAHHAHAAHA. all of my beginning con merch was done when i was still a teen, and it was arguably not good! after the con i was getting some recognition from fanart, and was simultaneously growing quite fast artistically. so i decided to try my hand at fanart more, to grow my audience in a way that was fun! and, i put my ocs on the side while i was fleshing out their stories more…

well, that promise was a lie HJJDFIHGBDGJKGDJDG i hardly drew them again while i focused on school and work, and you know what my content is like now, so, 

during the pandemic it’s been really hard to draw for enjoyment… everything i put to canvas turned into a disaster! but as soon as i drew my ocs, i felt like a teen again, riding that wave of happiness and energy. i really enjoyed creating for the sake of creating. then i realized that i SHOULD be drawing my ocs more because it made me happy. in recent years (like the last 2 years? since 2019?) i think drawing fanart has made me more restless and unhappy.

i think moving forward from here, i want to go back and be more of an originals artist. i still enjoy fanart and i don’t think i’ll ever stop being a fan of games or anime HAHA. i’m going to aim for a balance around 50/50 like it was before in high school and work towards my goals of publishing books (zines and comics)! & thank you if you read this far and are interested in my ocs! 💪
