Let's Read Peanuts (The Dark Souls of comic strip reading assignments) – August 1956
There are lots of great strips I just don't have room to comment on. I strongly encourage everybody to read the full month at the official GoComics page. Today's month starts HERE
August 6, 1956
That’s a bit of sex slang I was unfamiliar with.

OK, so for those who may be younger “Dr Spock” (Benjamin Spock) was a pediatrician who wrote a book “Baby and Child Care” which was basically the go-to book on the subject for decades and is still fairly popular today. It was notable for telling parents that it was OK to ~checks notes~ respond to your baby crying and show them affection.
Fucking hell…
He was also a big lefty who was against the Vietnam war and in favor of a lot of cool and good stuff like legal weed and gay rights way before it was mainstream to do so.
He also seemed to become kind of a crank in his later years and was big on all children becoming vegan after they were 2 years old. Plus, it looks like some of his ideas apparently haven’t aged well. So if you ever read his book do so with a bit of skepticism I guess.
Still, not bad for the time.

Once again, we get a fascinating look at modernity creeping into the world inch-by-inch.
August 15, 1956
There’s a whole mini-arc dedicated to this. I’ve seen it referenced a lot which kind of makes sense since we’ve all been there at some point.

lmao

No comment on this one. I just think it’s cute.

That’s some Lovecraft-tier “something isn’t right here” material if you stop and think about it.
It's such a shame that Star Trek didn't air in the UK until 1969 (rather than 1966 in the US), so this conversation couldn't have happened.
But I wonder whether there's an outtake from this episode where someone, quite possibly Stephen, says it??! :)
A proper Spock! I ordered a clothed Spock fairly cheap on eBay then swapped heads with frat Spock! I sewed up the holes in his uniform and here he is, an original 1974 Mego Spock, minus accessories.
“Cannel 2″, Byte Magazine 1984
Star Trek #12, page 3. Marvel Comics, 1981. Breakdowns by Luke McDonnell . Finishes by Tom Palmer.
