Sunstripe rubbed the side of the ripe squash, taking pride in the fruit grown by his paws. The badger, silver starting to take his fur, plucked the stalk. A content sigh left his muzzle.

All around him, hares harvested the warm summer's crops in the cool autumn harvest. There would be quite the feast tonight.

Sunstripe loved working with the soil. Now that Swartt Sixclaw was gone, he was free to live his dream. Instead of his infamous mace, a hoe and a watering can now inhabited his paws.

Sunstripe moved onto the next squash, and peace settled over him.

November 2025 Drabble Challenge – Recap 3/6

He has long since stopped believing in divine intervention, but some things still feel like it.

Day 15 - Squash V2

May absolutely needed to, and she meant this, it was a matter of life or death, but she needed to try the local delicacy from the latest stop on her group's tour. Because pumpkaboo squash cake sounded both adorable and delicious. And Serena and Lisia agreed (although not quite with the same fervent excitement as May had declared this need).

And when she did get to try them, they were delicious, everything she had hoped for and more! The shape was just the cutest, the taste was deliciously sweet, the texture was light and airy… they were cake made perfect!

Drabble Collective 2025

Day 15: Squash - @thedrabblecollective

This, as well as all of the other drabbles I’ll be doing for this challenge, are meant to be (out of order) parts of a novel I’m working on, so they probably won’t make much sense on their own.

Cedar had seen very few Birch trees in her lifetime. According to her family, they had never been very common in the Woodsea, and took some exploring to find. Considering that, it was remarkable how unremarkable Birch herself was. Her hair was a desaturated blonde at shoulder length, her skin almost translucent. In her drab clothing - white, dove grey, or a malnourished pastel - she looked somewhat like a ghost next to her family members. Cedar could see Sequoia in the background, wearing a shirt the color of squash, and briefly wondered how one could have come out of the other.

Mallow had been buying ingredients to expermient and build the next season's menu when she came across the squash. It wouldnt make it onto the menu, they werent native to Alola so she couldnt justify the inflated prices from import for a regular menu item, but maybe for some personal fun? She bought it.

She may have gone slightly overboard, but the squash had been quite big, so Mallow now had quite a lot of food. Maybe too much. But it was a great excuse to invite all her friends over, Mallow's favourite food, afterall, was food shared with friends.

Day 15: Squash

Fandom: Dragon Age the Veilguard Pairing: f!Rook/Neve Rating: T for this one, overall M, just to be sure Word count: 100 (duh!) Author's note: I'm currently working on a long fic (slow burn) that will tell the story of Asha (my Rook) and Neve. I'm currently working on chapter six and it will be a bit before I'll start posting it. These drabbles are technically happening after that story since it will be snap shots of key moments in their relationship Asha remembers after DAtV (and before the sequel I have ideas for). I don't think there will be any spoilers for the fic ('Rook on the Seventh Rank' will be the title) if you've played the game. I'm not inventing the wheel anew just sharing some new perspective from Asha.

I want to work on these drabbles to help me get to know my Rook better and getting her voice down and sharing some insight into her motivation and reasoning, since the long fic will be mostly (not all of it though) from Neve's PoV. (this author's note is already longer than the drabble LOL)

Author's note 2: Thanks to my wife, who's always supporting me in my writing endeavors and is cheering me on after I ended a IDK five year hiatus? I couldn't do this without you.

Thank you for all the kudos and comments I got on this series so far. After not writing for a really long time this really means so much to me.

Drabble under the cut!

Asha was excited to finally go back to Rivain for several reasons. She was looking forward to seeing Isabella again. She was excited to meet that dragon hunter, since she had never heard of them in her time with the Lords.

She was also craving some Autumn Stew. But to make some she needed squash and you got the best squash in Rivain.

Asha hadn't cooked since Neve had left. She couldn't bear the thought of expecting Neve to come in while she was cooking, like the other times before - and that not happening.

But she really craved Autumn Stew.

"Yeah, yeah, don't get too excited."

Werg glanced back anxiously at the house entrance, already regretting coming here. He found Engetsu smirking and leaning against the door frame, effectively squashing any hope Werg had of escaping. 

He sighed, turning back to Liselotte.

"The food better be edible this time."

"Of course! Hilde helped me! We're gonna have a feast."

He looked at Hilde, shaking like a leaf next to Liselotte, then back at his host.

"Looks promising."

Anna entered the room, smiling.

"If Werg is done being rude, dinner is served."
