Schlocktober is a month-long writing and drawing event. It was established in 2025 as a response to a kink-free Kinktober calendar that became infamous for having way too many rules.
Its unconventional prompts and loose standards encourage creative freedom and reject morality policing in fandom spaces.
Who's running this thing?
Direct your complaints to patheticfangirl.
Why "schlock"?
It means trash/junk (affectionate), and that's the quality of content I'm striving for with these prompts. It's also fun to say.
But, y'know, if you want to take a prompt and turn it into a masterpiece of a whumpy longfic, go for it. That's creative freedom, baby.
What fandom is this for?
Schlocktober is fandom and ship neutral. At the time of posting, there are 218 different fandoms represented in previous works.
What if I want to combine prompts? What if I want to write or draw things out of order? What if I want to make a video? What if...
Go for it. Get weird. Do an interpretive dance. Mix in last year's prompts if you want to. Let the spirit of schlock move you.
What does [prompt] mean?
You tell me. It's all open to interpretation.
Is RPF okay?
Yes, so long as it's clearly fiction. See rule #3 below.
There are rules?
Just three.
No AI use. Having the plagiarism machine do your work for you is the opposite of creative. A typo-riddled mess is better than AI-written fanfiction. A stick figure drawn on the back of a napkin is better than soulless AI slop art. Believe in your own ability to produce trashy works.
Tag appropriately. 'Creator Chose Not to Use Archive Warnings' means anything goes. 'No Archive Warnings Apply' means your work is guaranteed not to contain any of the major archive warnings (non-con, major character death, graphic violence, or underage sex).
No irl bigotry or crimes. Your characters can be as problematic as you'd like, but if you try to post a weird pro-JK Rowling essay or threatening manifesto or something you're not going in the collection. Don't kill the vibes.
Anything else I need to know?
Only the most important thing of all: Have fun.
But someone else is having fun wrong!
Shut the fuck up.
How do I participate?
There's an ao3 collection right here:
Schlocktober on ao3
Otherwise, just tag #schlocktober here or on Bluesky. DMs are open if you tag something and I miss it (I promise it's not intentional).
Will the collection stay open after October?
The collection is open 24/7/365, but you may not get approved as quickly in the off-season as mods don't check often.
I can't read your graphic!

As a reminder, the rules are posted here! They're also on the Ao3 Collection. Participants are free to cross-post with as many other events as they'd like; if it suits the prompt, you're good to go!
What's that? A completely new Stucky event?? In 2026??? It's more likely than you think! Because this thing is HAPPENING!
We're very excited to reveal this month-long secret. A lot of work has been put into this event, and we can't wait to see what everyone creates. The whole purpose is to bring creative people together and spread the love for Stucky. After all, it's what keeps this fandom alive!
Now... Mark your calendars because sign-ups will open two weeks from tomorrow, July 4th. Yes, on Steve's birthday! Sign-ups will stay open for another two weeks before we prepare for the start of the round on August 1st. The full schedule, along with event rules and Discord information, can be found in the event info post.
Spread the word! The Stucky fandom is alive, not dead!
Wow, this is the fourth year I’m running this event, can you believe it? Like last year, I got the prompt list out with plenty of time. One might even say it was early.
The collection can be found here, though it won’t open until March. Please check my pinned post for Tumblr posting guidelines, rules, and the FAQ. As always, feel free to drop me an ask if you have any questions ❤️🔥
Hello everyone! After a little hiatus, I have returned to continue my Danny Phantom events calendar duties!
The Danny Phantom Phandom is known for being an absurdly active Tumblr fandom with loads of events running throughout the year. So to keep us organized, I’ve compiled all events I’ve found or been DMed about into yearly calendars!
Danny Phantom Events Folder
The 2025 calendar now has a spreadsheet that includes event dates, links, sign ups, blogs, etc. To add an event, please DM. Feel free to save a shortcut to the calendar to your own Google Drives for your reference!
Hey farmers, it's that time of year again. We're so excited to be bringing back Rarepair Week! Some of the pairings that qualified as rarepairs last year don't even qualify anymore which is so cool. People are really showing up for their OTPs and challenging themselves with wild possibilities for pairings. Why don't you join the fun? ;D
~ FAQ ~
Can my farmer be included as a background character in the fic? Yes, we just aren't allowing OCs to be a part of the main pairing since this event is focused on pairing NPCs together.
What do I use when checking to see if my pairing is a rarepair? Just the ship tag, eg Alex/Elliott. No other filters, just the ship.
What if there's no relationship tag on AO3? Then congratulations, you are first in the tag, and this would count as a rarepair, as long as it fits the character criteria mentioned above.
My ship is in over 100 fics, but most of those are just in the background, can they still count as a rarepair? First of all, this sucks. We really wish there was a way to differentiate between main and background ship on AO3. Unfortunately since they're all under the same stat and there is no way for us to easily check, they would not count for this event.
Do I have to have something for every day? No, you can pick and choose, write them out of order, put them all into one fic, whatever you want to do!
Is there a word count limit? Nope, your entries can be as long or as short as you wish!
Is art welcome? Hell yes!
Can I use background characters? Yes, definitely. Travelling Cart Lady, Mona, Clara, Welwick… all welcome.
Platonic pairings? Platonic love is love, and is valid and welcome.
Can I write the same pairing all week? Yup, go for it.
What if my rarepair is established in canon, but has fewer than 100 fics? For the purposes of this event, any canon couple like Pierre and Caroline would NOT be considered a rarepair regardless of how few fics they have. That being said, if you want to add a person to the pairing and make it poly, that WOULD be a rarepair. Just note that all members of the poly should have equal importance to the story.
Are the flower dance pairings considered established canon relationships? They are not! So knock yourself out, just make sure they have fewer than 100 fics posted, since a lot of them are popular.
Do I need to post on the relevant day? Post your fics at anytime and we are happy to reblog, however if you want your work showcased on the day in our roundup posts you will need to join the Discord (see the pinned post for more info) and send your fic in to the submissions channel.
Add your fic to the collection on AO3!
Feel free to use the hashtag #SDV rarepair week 2026 and tag this blog to have your posts reblogged :) Happy rarepair week, everyone!
thanks to @saradika-graphics and @usernamemybeloathed for the graphics on this post
do you love female characters and an ENDLESS stream of thoughts about them? do you find yourself delving deep into their minds or the themes of their stories or their character development, only for it to go unnoticed? you are not alone, and you no longer have to shout into the void alone.
I STARTED THIS COMMUNITY to help curate a productive and focused space for appreciating female characters without unwanted derailment. it's still young and new, so, i was hoping to inspire a wider variety of meta and discussions because i want to engage with the way you engage with your favourite heroines.
if that sounds like your deal, PLEASE READ FURTHER AND BOOST THIS POST BY REBLOGGING IT!
EVENT: you can participate by sharing a meta discussion or post about any female character(s) of your choice, using any of the prompts below, curated by yours truly. this is meant to lean towards analysis of canon material rather than writing fanfiction.
PROMPTS:
I. “CHARACTER STUDY.” choose any character(s) of your choice and give your take on their characterisation. think of them as layers: the outer surface — their demeanour and first impression, then their motivations — intrinsic and extrinsic, their strengths and weaknesses, their personality, their behaviours in social interactions, their quirks, their fears, their psychology, their development and arcs, and so on. you can opt for a generalised overview or dive into a specific aspect of their characterisation. you can analyse them from any type of angle.
II. “VERSUS.” pick two women who have been pitted against each other for any type of conflict, and think about it. was that rivalry organic and inevitable or editorially forced and unexpected? was it beneficial or meaning for their character development? could it have been handled differently? was it interesting or tired? do you consider it reflective of our society? do you think this type of stories have any impact on the way we discuss relationships between women? does the bechdel test come to mind?
III. “MISCHARACTERISATION.” take any story, plot, comic, etc. of your choice and make your case for why this specific portrayal of the character does a disservice to them and is out of character. then tell me the implications and impact; did this mischaracterisation stem from ignorance or stereotypes? how much did this instance damage the public perception and understanding of the character?
IV. “A RETCON YOU ACTUALLY LIKED.” not all dramatic changes are bad all the time, and reboots aren't always terrible beyond belief. sometimes, they can work! i'd love to hear if there's an example you're fond of that was beneficial to your favourite character.
V. “BY DESIGN.” aesthetics aren't always surface-level, sometimes they can be reflective of who we are on the inside or carry significance that is cultural, psychological, or sentimental at times. for this prompt, i'd like for you to analyse the sartorial choices made in the design of your female character: why do they look the way they do? why these costume choices? why this colour scheme? why that hair length? why those gloves and masks? are these retcons helpful? additionally, you can also use this prompt to defend a specific character design you like.
VI. “DREAM TEAM-UP.” if you're anything like me, you have multiple favourites and you love playing dolls with them. so, use this prompt to propose a team-up, crossover, or collaboration of your choice! no limits on the number (minimum: two female characters), as long the focus is on the women of marvel and dc comics. you can analyse why these characters would work or wouldn't, draw parallels between them, think about what their dynamic would be like, propose a story idea, and so on. also, if these two did meet but you want them to meet again? i'll allow it.
VII. “PHOENIX.” pick any character who's been killed off, retconned out of existence, or simply collecting dust in limbo — and make your case for why they should be brought back to the current times. when was the last time they were mentioned? do you know what plans the editorial did have for them? do you think they can fit in now? how would you reconcile their years of absence? what would you retcon from the past story, and what new changes would you make for their new ones? what would their new debut be like?
GUIDELINES.
do you need to be a member of the community to participate? it's appreciated, but it's not mandatory! this event is open to everybody.
is there a fixed time or deadline? honestly? no. i understand people can be busy and whatnot, and frankly, co-ordinating a timed event can be a hassle. these prompts are forever and always available for use.
word count? as much or as little as you'd like. a minimum of one paragraph would be appreciated.
the questions in the prompts' description are not meant to be taken literally. they're only elaborate, the words in the quotation marks are the prompts. you can use my questions as a framework or just ignore them outright and interpret the prompt however you'd like it to be.
the focus should be on female characters. marvel and dc only. comics only.
i won't say you can't write your meta without sources, but it's strongly recommend to the cite the comics you're discussing; your citations should include comic name, year, and writer. a wiki link would be appreciated so that people don't get confused which comic you're dissecting. you can also cite other secondary sources.
these prompts aren't for storytelling, but moreso for articles or essays, as well as think-pieces and ideas for potential stories. these do not have to be unbiased or professional or following some fancy formatting or whatever, images and aesthetics not needed as long as your stuff is comprehensible. again, you can structure your meta that way.
you can be biased and whatnot, but the main thing i'm looking for is passion and enthusiasm for what you like. critiques are welcome, but in that case, i'd also recommend adding in solutions or constructive feedback too.
no ai. no plagiarism. no unpleasant arguments or disrespect or insulting.
tag appropriately and correctly!
no deliberate misinformation. no bigotry, propaganda, harmful rhetoric, and so on.
you can submit as many times as you'd like for as many of the prompts for as many female characters.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINE: tag your posts with #throughyourlens, @ me, and message/inbox me a link to your post, and i'll reblog your meta to the women of comics community. additionally, you are welcome to reblog your post directly to the community.
