When you and the others had first gotten to Alexandria, you were much like Daryl in thinking that it was just going to be somewhere that'll end up falling because of walkers or another group.

Now that you all have been here for a few months now, you're starting to warm up to the idea of this place being the place where you all can live out the rest of your days.

"Ya look cozy."

You turn your head towards the door to see Daryl Dixon leaning up against the door frame.

"Yeah well, as cozy as I can be given the situation." You say with a shrug, referring to your injured leg that you have elevated on a couple of pillows.

Daryl hums in agreement to that as he makes his way over to the bed to sit on the edge of it.

"Speakin' of that. How ya doin'?" He asks, his blue eyes shining with concern as he looks at you.

"I'm okay D." you smile while grabbing his hand, holding it tightly. "I just need to rest for a few more days."

"Alrigh'." he nods, giving your hand a squeeze. "If you need anythin', anythin' at all... Jus' let me know."

"I will." you nod. "I promise."

Nate snuggled deeper under the blankets, letting the warmth of the covers sink into his skin. Moose laid behind him. The donkey had an arm over Nate's side, spooning the man closer to his chest.

The past few days had been extra cold, more so than usual. Nate didn't know if that meant it was winter in the life he had lived before, but the fire and the blankets had been a welcome relief from the heavy snow.

It was so warm and cozy in the cabin...

Nate yawned, pulled the blankets up to his neck, and fell back asleep.

He's not sure when she fell asleep, but Obanai doesn't dare move. Even if his limbs are screaming to stretch, even if his skin feels a little cold from the lack of blood flow, he remains cozy with his arm hanging loosely over Mitsuri's shoulders.

She's drained from an intense day of training -- everyone is -- yet she feels the needs to try the hardest.

Doesn't she know she's proven herself, over and over, to everyone? To him?

When she shifts in her sleep, mouth catching flies, Obanai can do nothing except stare. Admire.

He's happy to go numb, for her.

Winter in Fall

It seems inconceivable that I’m looking at a Fall being cozy with someone who was once known as “The Winter Soldier”. It wasn’t luck that brought me to this point, it was a waking nightmare, something that Bucky himself understands all too well. And we’ve both done some unforgiveable things.

But yet, we’ve been forgiven, and moreover allowed another chance at life. Being thrown together by assignment has given us a surprise third chance: love. So, I’m writing this by the fireplace whilst Bucky plays with his new white cat, Alpine. Our own little family. Safe from the outside world.

There was a lot going on in their secret base, what with James's constumes and the radio broadcast setup, and all the beds for their pokemon and the basket of their balloon. To be polite about it, it was cozy. But Jessie always enjoyed returning to it after a jaunt of attempting to capture The Twerp's Pikachu. It was the closest thing to a home, really, that she's had since she had moved into the Team Rocket dorms as a girl after her mother went missing. James, Meowth and all their pokemon really just completed it, it was almost perfect.

Drabble Collective 2025

Day 11: Cozy - @thedrabblecollective

This, as well as all of the other drabbles I’ll be doing for this challenge, are meant to be (out of order) parts of a novel I’m working on, so they probably won’t make much sense on their own.

It was when a cozy sweater the color of pumpkins washed up on the Treeshore that Cedar remembered that the Woodsea did not always arrive with faded memories and portents of doom; Once, she had only known it to deliver those mundanities that occupied her every day. Easels and paintbrushes, a hair ribbon, sheet music that she did not know how to play. Perfumes, teacups, small, mysterious tins which she opened with great suspense but knew deep down to contain mints. She could no longer marvel over these treasures and bring them to the manor without catastrophizing about their meaning.

At Liselotte's request, the twins had brought the extra duvets to the living room, only to find her sitting under a makeshift tent, using two chairs and blankets.

Liselotte grinned, gesturing at them to come closer.

"Perfect! We can put these ones over us. Come sit!"

Anna approached, but Alto stayed behind.

"Again, what is this?"

Liselotte spread her arms.

"A blanket fort! I've always wanted to make one. Now sit and we will read a story together."

"What? No way!"

Anna smiled as she sat down.

"Alto, don't defy an order, especially a cozy one."
