"Home?" When he thinks he's schooled his face, Gojo's nostrils flare with silent rage. "You think I see this as home?"

"You seem content with playing house."

"Yes, when there are wandering eyes, dearest wife."

The terms of endearment turn sour on his tongue. For a moment you both stare, willing the other's band to burst into ash. Shackles freed; you were both meant to break tradition, not honor it.

"We can't burn them down from the inside if we're dead." He leans in, breath caressing your ear. You shiver. "So pretend to love me, and I will ruin them."

Home: It Isn't Rocket Science (A Starfield Drabble)

"Well, it looks like this lead is officially a dead end," Sam lamented, throwing his cutter down in disgust.

Lilu shook her head. It was a full day wasted and they were empty handed. "Agreed. No Artifacts here."

"Welp, may as well head home."

"Home?" she asked. "Just where is this 'home' anymore?" A smile played on her lips, one eyebrow arching at Sam. They had moved on from the Lodge a while ago.

"Sunshine, home is wherever you, me, and Cora find ourselves together, safe and sound, every night. On the ship, in our outposts, but together. As family."

The trees in this forest were nothing like the jungles that were Koko's home. For one, the jungle trees didn't all turn shades of orange and yellow and red and brown before the leaves fell leaving the branches bare. And for second, the pokemon were different. It was colder, here, too, but thankfully the clothes Ash bought for him were warm.

Koko never really thought about how different the rest of the world would be before leaving the jungle. But he was enjoying making all these new friends, both human and pokemon.

Although, maybe he was getting a little homesick.

It had taken months, but Liselotte finally felt at home in this house. It was almost entirely furnished by now. Around meal times, a pleasant smell wafted from the kitchen, proving Anna and Alto's cooking skills. Hilde and Myrte had sewn curtains for every window and kept fresh flowers in the living room. Liselotte's vegetable garden was well underway and the plans for the flower garden were coming together.

She hoped Engetsu would one day feel at home here too. But tonight, as they got lost in each other's kisses, she thought maybe he could find a home in her.

It wasn't Leblanc, but Haru liked to think she made the cafe a cozy place all its own.

Pink walls with white accents decorated the Beauty Cafe. Plants and flowers occupied every corner, capturing an immortal springtime with blooming cheer. Coffee, sourced from numerous green farmers, scented the air. The menus hovered over the register and counter in a neat stack. The community board advertised a monthly poetry reading, and the garden behind the restaurant was full of fresh fruits and vegetables.

A joyful smile spread across Haru's face. It wasn't Leblanc, but it was a home of her own.

Day 18: Home

Fandom: Dragon Age the Veilguard Pairing: f!Rook/Neve Rating: T for this one, overall M, just to be sure Word count: 100 (duh!) Author's note: I'm currently working on a long fic (slow burn) that will tell the story of Asha (my Rook) and Neve. I'm currently working on chapter six and it will be a bit before I'll start posting it. These drabbles are technically happening after that story since it will be snap shots of key moments in their relationship Asha remembers after DAtV (and before the sequel I have ideas for). I don't think there will be any spoilers for the fic ('Rook on the Seventh Rank' will be the title) if you've played the game. I'm not inventing the wheel anew just sharing some new perspective from Asha.

I want to work on these drabbles to help me get to know my Rook better and getting her voice down and sharing some insight into her motivation and reasoning, since the long fic will be mostly (not all of it though) from Neve's PoV. (this author's note is already longer than the drabble LOL)

Author's note 2: Thanks to my wife, who's always supporting me in my writing endeavors and is cheering me on after I ended a IDK five year hiatus? I couldn't do this without you.

Thank you for all the kudos and comments I got on this series so far. After not writing for a really long time this really means so much to me.

Drabble under the cut!

Asha closed the door behind her and sat down on the steps leading up to the study. This conversation hadn't gone the way she … expected? Hoped for? Wished for?

Anyway, it had gone a totally different way, and now she wasn't quite sure what to make of it.

She was glad that Neve was back, that she decided to rejoin them. But Neve had definitely changed. There was a darkness to her, a coldness that quite frankly scared her a bit.

Neve wanted revenge for her home, for Minrathous, and Asha wasn't sure how far Neve would go for that.
