But surviving ain't always living.
I think Drack is the best-written character in Mass Effect Andromeda. He comes along as another cliche role model, here the cranky old warrior, a fossil who doesn't know that his time is over and is boring everyone else with endless stories of his glory days.
But no. That's not his arc. Drack is a wreck, has been for centuries now. One idiot with a belt of explosives ended the old Drack. What was left was a pile of flesh, prostheses rejected by his body, and endless pain. He had already given up on himself when a shaman dropped a baby into his lap, Kesh. "Here, she is weak and worthless; she will die". That was Drack, too.
That sparked his defiance. He pushed through the pain and became a better version of himself to be the father Kesh needed. Drack survived, Kesh survived.
Now Andromeda. It is clear that Drack only undertook this madness for one reason: Kesh. She is now someone, part of the leadership of the Initiative. In fact, she is more important than Drack. He had put her on the starting line, and she won the race.
His task in this world is completed. The only thing left to do for Drack is to die a good death. That's why he is out there hunting Kett on his own. That's why he is "way too happy" when someone is shooting at him. And that's why he joined those squishy humans on their suicidal hunt for the Archon.
@keshanshaunaart happy early birthday. I wanted to be kind enough to gift you via drawing.
Take this Kaykreayan headshot.

I actually upgraded his Turian Renegade category first because I loved that description so much, lol!
Jack and Zaeed have been a really solid choice for squadmates on missions so far. They seem to work well together. I realized that, d'oh, I hadn't done anybody's loyalty missions yet so I did Zaeed's because I'd gotten it first. THEN I found out that his is really difficult to get mid-game if you're playing Paragon (if you do it right away, you don't need as many Paragon points to pass the check). If you don't choose the Renegade option of letting people die so Zaeed can go after the guy to get revenge, then you've got to have a HECK a lot of Paragon points to pass that check at mission's end because Mr. Massani is (kinda rightfully) PEEVED at you for costing him his revenge.
And when I say peeved, I mean I legit thought he was going to Critical Mission Failure Shep or at least he was going to be so angry he wouldn't continue on with the crew.
Thankfully, my sweet Shep and I have been gathering all the Paragon points we can, so we passed the check, Zaeed backed down and now we have his loyalty, WHEW. (I love talking to him between missions, he always has a story to tell you, lol!)
I just did Jack's loyalty mission and, as a reward, I gave her a shirt to go under her "there's no way those tiny straps are staying in place like that" harness, lol! I've seen a couple of different dialogue scenes with Jack and most of them still have her snarking at Shep, so I was surprised when I talked to her after her loyalty mission and she was remarkably calm and thoughtful. I didn't want to activate her romance options but I was afraid I'd have to be mean to her to prevent that. So far, so good, though; Jack seems to like me without liiiiiiking me. 😍👍
Grunt and Wrex!!! Shep looks like he's back there having an existential crisis while Uvenk (who I knew was voiced by Michael Dorn the second he spoke 😉) seems to be either appreciating or judging his Spectre butt, lol.
Uvenk: "Well, he's no Miranda, that's for darn sure!" 😤
😂Anyway!
Plus there was an ambassador from Clan Nakmor there! I didn't realize my beloved Drack's clan originated from the OT!
Oh man, I love that Krogan, lol!
I'm trying to get all of the loyalty missions done ASAP and I've already upgraded the Normandy as much as I can. There are still a few more upgrades I haven't gotten yet because I haven't recruited Thane, Legion or Tali yet. I decided to put Tali off as late as I can so that when I come back on another playthrough, I won't have to replay the entire game just to NOT romance her so that I'm setting up Kaidan's romance in 3. I hope I'll still get the chance to do all of Tali's romance stuff, though. If I mess it up by getting her too late, I'll just back up and do her recruiting earlier, then. We'll see!
And ohhhhh I did the Overlord mission without knowing which one it was going to be and it was David. Holy macaroni. That was so upsetting at the end when he's finally revealed and he's got tears running down his face and there's his horrid brother wanting you to choose to leave him like that. I LOVE that the Paragon option is to pistol whip that dude, lol. I hope we get to see David later on in 2 or 3 and that he's doing so much better. Man, I wasn't expecting that reveal and it really stuck with me. Poor guy.
And I don't know if this is something or not but... one of the bots was acting weird in that mission, like it was trying to attack a console and when Shep and the squad came in, it didn't attack them. Is that going to have something to do with Legion, I wonder? It wasn't the Geth style robot body that Legion has but I couldn't help but think it was trying to tell me that there was some other type of robot sentience going on in there. I could just be projecting, though, because I already know about Legion, so... 🤷♀️ I guess we'll see!
And lastly, while the Hammerhead is no Mako or Nomad, I actually had a lot of fun zipping awkwardly around in it! Forgot to record or cap any of it, though, oops. 🤷♀️ I've played a LOT of Mass Effect these past few days, lol!
That's it for my Mass Effect 2 Update of Updateyness! Keep holding the line, friends! Love to you all! 💖💖💖
Who will break Shepard/Ryder out of prison with no questions asked, winner vs winner
Garrus

Selected participants won their respective polls, basically whose most likely to break their friend (maybe more in some cases) out of prison without asking any questions, except maybe "which prison?"

Old drawing that i didn’t post for some reason
Drack doesn’t have a timeline to return to and just lives in the clubhouse according to the Boss’s orders. JackPot doesn’t appreciate Drack just lazing around, so he sometime makes Drack help out and work at the Clubhouse.
Surprisingly he can make a good drink if you ask him.
Bonus sketch:
Ryder: Even these Jardaan were surprised at what they created…
SAM: It is not uncommon for a creator to be surpassed by their creation.
Drack: Couldn’t anyone else have said that?
