This is probably my favourite of the commissions I did, so I'm quite sad I didn't think to grab the customer’s contact info and maybe ask them to scan it in for me. As such, this shot with my camera will have to do.
It's a wood dragon. A lot of people asked for those. :) This one has a little birdie.

Colour experiment (as per here). What you do is you slap a greyscale filter over your main painting/sketching layer and try to paint something that looks good in terms of values, but picking colours essentially out of a hat. It’s a nice little “trick” to get some colour combinations you might avoid otherwise. Obviously, after the filter came off I had my work cut out for me, haha.
I also used some nature brushes made by Devin Elle Kurtz, they’re free to use and pretty fantastic
