🩶 Silver Dragon Codex by R.D. Henham (Dragon Codices #6)
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟/5
When a white-robed wizard shows up at a circus and accuses Belen, a performer, of being a silver dragon who killed a whole village, it’s up to her and her friends to uncover this mystery. As they travel to the ruined village, more signs point to an even bigger problem, an even bigger threat. Will they be able to solve this puzzle?
The sixth book in the Dragon Codices, it was fast-paced, adventurous, and really showed growth with the characters we followed. I enjoy delving into the world of Krynn and meeting some interesting folk, getting to go on adventures and potentially meet dragons!
Although, there was one aspect of this book I didn’t like which was how the writer treated the character Ebano, who is a “foreigner” and doesn’t speak the common language. They frequently refer to his own language as strange and he felt very middle eastern/asian-coded which put a sour taste in my mouth. He is one of my favorite characters in the book and I just wish they treated him with more respect when describing his customs and life.
💛 Gold Dragon Codex by R.D. Henham (Dragon Codices #7)
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5
Sandon has grown up on tales of the Knights of Solomnia, hoping to one day join their ranks, but things are not so simple. His father, the Baron of Hartfall, must offer tribute to an evil blue dragon, a stranger has arrived, and the gold dragon said to protect the valley of Hartfall is no where to be found. What will Sandon do?
This was a wild ride from start to finish, following Sandon as he goes from naive teenager to a respectable fighter and son of the Baron. His character development is static and he shows courage, and forethought in the issues that arise, giving him many opportunities to grow and develop.
One of the main things I love about this series is the dragons (who would have guessed?). This book features two dragons with a long history of conflict and it’s riveting to see how they interact, and how the dragons present themselves. This was a solid ending to the series, although you could say each book is a standalone, but I still thought it made a good finale to all the stories.
🐲 Bronze Dragon Codex by R.D. Henham
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
A young bronze dragon has good reason to think all humans are evil. At the same time, a human girl named Tatelyn also has good reason to distrust even metallic dragons. Will they put their differences aside on a quest to recover their lost magical powers?
The second book in the Dragon Codices series, we get to have a very interesting and fun dynamic that talks about prejudices and what makes things “evil”. I say a fun dynamic as Simle, the bronze dragon, and Tatelyn lose their powers and suddenly feel each others’ pain. This goes from funny to dangerous rather quick as they fight off draconians, kobolds, and even knights!
I didn’t like this one as much as I enjoyed the Red and Black Dragon Codices, but I did like the pacing and plot better than the Green Dragon Codex. This one flowed nicely and the ending was really sweet and gave me a feeling of comfort and catharsis. I’d definitely recommend this book if you’re a fan of dragons, D&D, or fantasy-adventure!
🔥 Red Dragon Codex by R.D. Henham
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
“I think you will always find that you can accomplish more in the company of friends than by yourself.”
Mudd and his sister must go on a quest to rescue their friend Shemnara from an evil red dragon, leading them to form unlikely bonds and discover the truth about themselves. Will they find the silver dragon that has the power to save their friend?
This is the first published book in the Dragon Codicies series by R.D. Henham. I’ve been reading them out of order, so I decided to start at the very beginning! This book was so so good if you’re looking for action and adventure. It’s fast-paced and filled with trials that push our heroes into further development. I’d say that Iroden that kender/elf was my favorite character because of his journey to get his form back.
A circus. A secret. Perhaps a silver dragon.

Silver Dragon Codex by R.D. Henham
For anyone who dreams of dragon riding...
Jace, a high-wire acrobat in a traveling circus, thought he knew the thrill of adventure. But when he meets Belen, a strange girl with no memory of her past, he soon discovers how much more adventure--and danger--awaits him. Not long after Belen joins the circus, a wizard arrives and stops the show--not by magic, but by accusation. Belen is not human, he says: she is a shapeshifting dragon, who destroyed a nearby town. As Jace and Belen set off in a race against time to clear Belen's name and recover her memory, mysterious forces conspire to throw them off track. Can Jace learn to fly through the air with the greatest of ease--on the back of a dragon--before time runs out?
In the next installment of R.D. Henham's series inspired by The New York Times best-seller A Practical Guide to Dragons, a new hero polishes the tarnished reputation of a noble silver dragon.
