was talking to @ghosts-goldendoodle and they gave me IDEAS!!! Dreamwalker au!!! c: ♡♡♡
art by @ave661
it fits so well with this whole idea I'm about to start WEEPING.
cw: dreamwalker au, soulmate au sort of?, slight angst, fluff, you keep catching feelings!!, Simon's different operator skins, dream rules which means no rules, hallucinations??
you've been having the same dreams for months now.. well.. almost the same. the backgrounds, the seasons, the adventures would all change. some days you'd be underwater, a city of Atlantis lost to time. others, on alien planets in bulky space suits.. and others in the middle of a warzone, being carried away by a man in a gray jacket.
at first they were just hazy, fleeting dreams lost in the morning air with your yawn. slowly but surely the haze would fall away, leaving you with almost clear memories.
you'd see a large man in your dreams, an apparition at the edges of your vision or far enough on the horizon that he blended into the other faceless dream people.
it wasn't until recently you started seeing his face, or what was left uncovered of it. a skull mask, a balaclava, sometimes just a surgical mask, always dark eyes, but never a full look.
you were smart enough to recognize a pattern, and this man seemed to be one. however you were not clear what this pattern meant.
you even turned to drawing when you were awake. at first, trying to just draw the feeling of your dreams. open plains, mugs of tea.. bullets. then you stepped on to trying to capture his exact likeness to various degrees of success.. turns out drawing from vauge dream memory isnt a fool proof process..
night by night, his proximity to you would get closer, his featured becoming more clear. he was blonde, at least his eyebrows implied he was. he was huge, at least much bigger than you. he was quiet.. or at least he didn't answer when you tried to speak.
at some point, you found yourself eager to see your dream man again, hoping to solve the mystery of him. you kept turning to your sketchbook, determined to find something in the meaning, but alas there wasn't much. just skulls, big brown eyes and occasionally a gun or 2
Gunslinger
you weren't an avid consumer of western material, not even the movies. so when you found yourself in a 1800s western saloon, it was already a strange dream. throw in the fact you're practically lucid dreaming in search of a mystery man.. that just made it even stranger.
there was no guarantee you'd see him. it wasn't like there was ever a sign on when he would show up.. but you kept your attention as focused as you could. you fiddled with your fingers before returning to nurse your drink.
the saloon was practically empty besides you and a few vague groups of people in your peripheral. even the bar tender was hardly there, a whispy dream person, fading in and out.
the only things that were solid and clear were the sounds around you, and the bartop you sat at.
murmurs and mumbles of conversations you couldnt understand over the sound of a quiet whistle of the bartender... until it all stopped.
you looked up from your dreamy, swirling drink to the bartender and patrons now gone, the saloon eerily silent. now only you and the man across the bar. a bright red skull stared back at you.
you felt frozen to your seat, staring at who you hoped was your quiet dream man and not a demon coming to eat your heart.
his dark eyes were unwavering, staring at you or even through you. did he see you? were you really seeing him?
he moved, headed for the exit. your body followed, subconsciously. your eyes were glued to his wide back, covered in a sleek, tailored jacket. he was overdressed for the saloon. his spurs and hard-heeled boots knocked on the dusty saloon floor, extenuating each step of his long stride.
he picked up pace. you started a jog.
"hey!" your voice was lost in the thick, dreamy air and he didn't so much as look back.
you chased after him, following him to a lone horse, tied to a post in the empty western town. if anyone would ride an all back horse, it would be him.
dreams are always a bit fucky.. you blinked and suddenly you were on his horse, clinging for life to his vest. your nails dug hard into the fabric. even in your dream, the buttons felt real, cool to the touch.
your eyes wandered back to the town behind you, quickly fading into obscurity. the faceless people there all watched you leave on the back of a stallion. it leaped over a river, making you shoot awake.
Party Boy
the music in the nightclub was indecipherable. you could find a beat, but the words and instruments were lost to your dream conscious.
people of different faces, even creatures you conjured up moved about the dance floor and to the bar. some of the people morphed into others, blurred in your mind's eye. the only person that was clear.. was him.
you never question if it's him anymore. the skull mask is a dead giveaway every time. tho this time, he seemed a bit more.. flashy. white leather jacket, tight gray jeans. quite the change from your cowboy the night before.
this meeting was almost identical. this time, he stared at you behind dark sunglasses from across the neon lit bar. he got up to move just like before, you beat him to it. if anything you could stop him at the exit..
was there even an exit? the neon lights blurred and morphed together. there weren't any clear words you could read in them, let alone anything that explicitly said exit.
in your valiant effort to stop the man in his tracks, you got lost in the ever changing crowd of dancing "people." bodies nudged and bumped you. it felt like you were fighting against a strong current, swimming to shore but with no idea where shore is.
this dream was quickly turning into a nightmare, with creatures and people grabbing at your limbs. the crowd circled around you, figuratively nipping at your heels. it was like you were drowning, thrashing in your sleep.
this was different.. you squirmed under the strange pawing and crowding from the dream people. the music of the club morphed and slowed, warbled, and distorted.
until you could feel him right at your back. the mystery man and his strange ability to split the sea of your nightmare.
the music resumed as normal, or as normal as it could be in your dream state. it hummed and thumped softly. the neon lights turned down their brightness, and the crowd of dream creatures seemed to lose interest in you.
you were sucked right into the sway of the man behind you. he rocks with the steady thump of the music. was it the music? or was it your heartbeat?
"y' all righ'?" his voice shot you awake.
Gilded
jewels and gold were not something you usually indulge in. you say usually, but you really mean ever. you don't remember the last time you bought earrings, let alone anything like the dazzling necklace on your collar. you frowned into your reflection of a large hallway mirror.
you didn't feel like you, even in the dream. heavy, embroidered fabrics over your frame made it uncomfortable to walk the long hall you were stuck in. where even were you? this was much more quiet than your other dreams.. you didn't even see your mystery man anywhere.
you moved down the empty yet lavish hall, illuminated by a sunset glow. describing it as a castle would be an injustice. it felt like a palace, decorated in busts, chandeliers and gold.
soft chatter and the even softer tune of a piano led you to another hallway, large wooden double doors waiting for you on the other end.
they were cracked open, a few groups of your usual dream people scattered just outside the entrance. they were dressed like you, lavish, regal, however all in masks.
some covered their whole face, others just their eyes. jewels, animal shapes, feathers ribbons, all of them. how would you find your mystery man in a crowd of masks? was he even here? were you finally going crazy over all this lucid dreaming?
the groups of people stopped their chatter to turn to watch you nervously meander down the hall. contrary to your last dream, they weren't grabbing or crowding you.. just watching you approach the doors
a bulky man with a mohawk, face hidden behind a red fox mask, stopped you before you entered the double doors. he held out a mask in his broad hand. you looked down at it and back up at his swirly, dreamy blue eyes.
"oh. right."
the man's eyes seemed to crinkle at the corners. a smiling fox. "aye"
when you slipped the mask on, covering your eyes and nose. by the time it was fully on, the crowds had disappeared. even your fox faced friend. with no other options, you turned to move inside the ballroom.
full of dream people moving this way snd that with the soft piano, at first glances, you didn't notice your skull man anywhere. you figured he was wearing a different mask, making your ordeal even harder, if he was here at all. but by the time your eyes reached a lineup of guards, there he was. in all back with a gold mask. he seemed more out of place than you felt. stoic and unmoving like a stagnate shadow in the waves of moving dream people.
he wasn't getting away from you this time. you spotted him before he did you and you were on a mission. foregoing the many dream people that swayed and waltz on the marble floor, you b-lined for him. laser focused. until you were swept up by your fox friend again.
he pulled you close, all but forcing you into a ballroom dance with him and other couples on the sleek marble floor. you stumbled and struggled to follow his movements, trying to keep your eye on your mystery man. one more twirl and the ballroom was empty.
empty save for you. and him.
time felt like it had stopped. the music was gone, the people, the chatter. just the sound of your heart pumping.
he looked menacing, but his eyes were soft. there was no furrow or pointed stare. were they always like that? .. had you ever looked this intently at his eyes?
it almost makes you woozy, like you're sipping into a black hole. the black hole seemed to be the back of your eyelids. one minute you were stating at him, the next groaning in time with the sun peeking through your blinds.
he got away again
Simon
you stirred awake, in a room you don't recognize. none of your pictures, posters, or knick knacks were on the wall. your sheets weren't the same and you certainly wouldn't pick such a drab color.
this was the biggest diversion from your previous dreams.. was it a dream? of course it was. you wouldn't sleep in some strangers house. you frowned and removed yourself from the cold bed.. just to be sure you moved to peer outside the dark curtains. forming an entire cityscape must've been too much for your dream brain. All of the buildings, streetlights and stars morphed and warped together. definitely dreaming.
with no clues to find in the room, you moved to the hallway. it seemed you were in an apartment. it was small, plain, but not sterile. there was a soft smell of amber and tea leaves, clearly a lived in space.
the hallway opened to a living room to your right and kitchen to your left. just further around the corner of the kitchen.. you found him. hunched over a tea mug, skull balaclava just hardly lifted over his nose.
"it's you." you weren't sure what else you could say. after all this time searching for him in different dreams, you were within inches of him. "who are- where- I don't understand."
finally having him cornered, you didn't know what to say. what could you say? would anything be normal to say in a situation like this? where you search night after night for a figment of your imagination.. that's all he was.
"dunno what's happenin.." his voice was the same as it had been those few weeks ago, when you were trapped in that God awful club
he stood up straight, pulling his mask down and staring down at you. those brown eyes kept you stuck in place once again. your eyes flickered away from his, taking in that distinctive gray hoodie.
"you're not doing this?" you were dumbfounded. he was the only common denominator in all of this.
"you're not?" he counters.
the only common denominator innall of this was you.
there will be a part 2 I promise! I just really like this and want to put it out even if I can't wrap it up perfectly 😭
Anyways this was really just an excuse for Shadow to hang out with more people and learn about the stuff he was gone for. How does he have the ability to go through dreams? Doom alien abilities he inherited. He's lowkey traumatized after catching a memory of Sonic and Lancelot making out. He couldn't look at him for months lmao
This AU was inspired by a weird dream/nightmare I had a while ago and something intriguing I found in the Sonic X series. Apparently, in one of the subs or dub of Sonic X, it was mentioned that Amy and Sonic have a psychic link with each other that lets them sense when one of them is in danger (I'm not making this up a swear, I can't find the clip/episode for the life of me!)
Context:
Sonic never usually had dreams or nightmares, when he did he dreamed he was alone in a white void until he woke up. Sonic never gave these dreams, much thought until the night he arrived on earth alone, he dreamt of a girl. On the night he arrived on earth the white void he often dreamed of felt extra unwelcoming. The loneliness even in his dreams was too much for the little hedgehog so he wept and called out for anyone to stop this feeling.
His cries were answered by another lonely hedgehog appearing to console him. Since then they would meet in their dreams every so often to comfort each other or to simply talk. They eventually start to have a bit of fun when they discover they can materialize objects or landmarks into their dreamscape.
For a while, Sonic was satisfied with recreating environments and exploring them with Amy, but as time went by, it became harder to shove away that one thought that was bothering him, was Amy even real? As a kid, he thought it didn't bother him too much whether she was real or not, who wouldn’t want a cool imaginary friend? Now that he was older, the thought that she was possibly made up to keep himself sane bothered him more and more each time they met. Ultimately his frustration leads to him lashing out at Amy when she tells him she couldn’t come to earth to meet him in person. Sonic desperately wanted some semblance of proof that she was real but she couldn’t give him any reinsurance that mattered at the time. Unfortunately, for both of them, the discord temporarily severed their bond, preventing them from meeting in future dreams.
He mourns the loss of his friend whether she was real or not deeply hurt him and made him regret ever arguing with her. With each dream, he tried calling out to her, summoning her favorite places, and even recreating her but nothing seemed to work. Eventually, the hurt became too much for him so he forces himself to forget his possibly imaginary friend returning to his lonely life in Greenhills. That is until the events of the first movie.
Two years later(after the events of the first, second movie, and possibly the third movie) sonic is now living with Tom and Maddie, his parents alongside his two new brothers Tails and Knuckles. Although Sonic now had everything he ever wanted, his mind couldn't help but wander back to the mysterious pink hedgehog of his dreams from time to time. Whenever that happened, he would push those thoughts aside to focus on more important things like his family or the next big adventure. This seems to put those unresolved feelings at bay until he receives a chilling dream/vision of Amy. She didn’t feel right, she didn’t look right, she didn’t even greet him the way he always knew her for. She only looked through him with eyes that weren’t her own, whispering a mixture of a plea for help and a warning.
another dream but always you by you_explode for @onedirectionbigbang
Harry/Louis, 60k, mature / perfect gifs by @haroldsmoon over here
Harry is a Dreamwalker; he has the ability to visit people in their dreams and help put them on the right path. He's assigned to Louis, who's struggling after the break-up of his band. It's an unusual assignment from the beginning; Harry has a crush on Louis, and Louis's subconscious immediately decides Harry is the love of his life. When Dreamers cast Harry as their love interest, he can usually redirect them, but Louis is insistent on being Harry's boyfriend, and despite knowing they have no future, Harry wants to keep up the charade.
It's been a while since I posted 😅 This week has been extremely busy and a little chaotic, but I'm so glad to bring you this little art reveal🥰 Once again, big thanks to Edi-tsune!!! Their fanart of Royalty Wally is what inspired this fanart of DreamWalker Wally😊 I'm still over the moon about the finished product
