Why is your dog staring at me like that
[image ID: a scanned sketch in ink pen of Darling (it/its) and Dred (they/them). Darling is small with pale pink skin. Its eyes are hot pink and a patch over one eye. It’s hair is a deep, dark teal that reads as black aside from lighter highlights, slicked back saved for the long sideburns hanging over its shoulder. It is smiling very big and toothy though the smile seems kinda fake. It is leaning forward and wearing a ruffled teal top, with black pants. Dred, standing up right, stands next to Darling. They have light brown skin and warm brown hair with highlighted raccoon stripes over their shoulder. They have a mole by their lip and another under their eye. Dred looks surprised and sweating, looking at the viewer as if caught off guard. They are wearing a school uniform consisting of a short sleeve white button up and a grey tie and skirt; a chunky black and rainbow studded belt and pink and teal pins adding a pop of color to the uniform.]
A collection of some “series bible” pieces I’ve done so far for one of (and currently sort of my biggest) comic projects, Dredful. :]
The long and shirt of the plot is the main character Mildred Espinoza [They/Them] (prefers to simply be called ‘Dred’), becomes so lost in the early aughts world of shock sites, gore footage, and nasty online forums that they accidentally create a being named Darling [It/Its]; an impish little Tulpa-like being whose sole purpose is to push Dred further and further into every nasty, harmful, and morally reprehensible thought they have. Very much paying homage to the sort of early 2000’s/scene/internet aesthetics and paying homage to the days of live leak and rotten dot com. Not giving away details but through out the story is it very unclear if Darling is really real or if Dred just needs a little help
Developmentally still a lot do, character turn arounds and finalizing designs & so on,,but writing is coming along nicely :] really can’t wait to share more of these two
