Gilbert and Ludwig used to man a jaeger together until the mech was split in two during an attack. they barely defeated the kaiju before hand, and while they survived, it fucked up their sync and they can't pair up anymore.

it kinda created a shift between them, and while they do care about another it's tricky for them to come out ab their emotions on the matter

Matt and Al also had been a brother duo, with a high sync capability, but with Al being more into the research aspect, they don't want them on the field, bc Al's brilliant mind is invaluable and they don't want to loose it. Matt though, is still their best cadet and they're looking to pair him up and send him out.

Matt's kinda sour that Alfred dragged him into this but ended up in the research department, and Al's sorta bitter Matthew will end up the hero. But they're not like. Actually mad??? just weighs them down a little.

the Germans come by for a tour of the base, for a sort of diplomatic venture, and are introduced to the brothers in passing

"Alfred and Matthew Williams-Jones, our top kaiju reasearcher and cadet, we had intended for them to man our newest jaeger, but things didn't go according to plan..."

Neither sets of siblings pay the other much mind. Matthew doesn't think he'd match up, Ludwig is considering retiring from battle and becoming a base commander, Gilbert is kinda too pissed off to care, and none of them have any info on kaijus to be any interest to Alfred.

But later during the week, Matt catches Gilbert sorta moping around in the cafe, and he's like 'fuck the goodness of my heart,' and goes over with his plate of drowned pancakes and is like "here, try this, might make u feel better"

and Gil is like the audacity but tries it anyways bc he never backs down from a challenge. he instantly goes nuts. holy shit these are amazing???

so they start small talking, ab life and being a jaeger pilot and Matt's seriously in awe at Gilbert and Ludwig's record, and damn Gilbert likes how this cadet is just so nice ugh. they notice a sort of connection, but bah, can't be real, there's no one out there they can pair up with. they're lonely bastards.

Alfred calls Matt away, excitedly wanting to share his research, and Gilbert watches in awe as they interact. so in sync. they'd make such a good team.

later, Matt decides to train a bit but he already finds Gilbert in the room. he's like, kinda gay ab seeing Gilbert half naked and he's like "I'LL COME BACK LATER AH HAH HAH" but Gilbert is like "psssh who cares join me Mattie train with an actual pilot! for experience!"

so Matthew is like "sure fine ok whatever" and they sorta turn it into a challenge. wanting to one up the other. it's good fun. they're loving it! and Gilbert gets the great idea to spar! and Matt's like 'sure what could it hurt, just training with a pro for experience"

only. they get so in tune with it. they're syncing up. they realise it's happening and they literally can't believe that it is. Matt sees Gilbert's eyes widen and that must be a trick of the light, they can't be sparkling. Gilbert sees the same in Matt's eyes and he grins. And drags Matt off to show his brother.

his brother is sceptical about it of course, sure it's the best cadet on base but what are the odds. really. so they set up the pair and do a test. and holy shit, what the fuck they're like, a little better than Gil and Luddy and they were actually family. how the fuck are these strangers????

Matt and Gil are like "the Loneliness???" but they just vibe.

Nobody's talked about the Drift AU in awhile, and I miss it a lot. Any particular reason?

We talk about what is sent to us, generally (though sometimes things get buried when we don’t have a response in mind yet and put it off waiting for a flash of inspiration to strike...). For a while recently, it was panic over the idea of Al-V dying. A little more recently we saw a bit of Gompers, as well as some Transdimensional Arc AU.

So if you’d like to talk about Drift AU, bring a thought about it up in an ask and see if that gets the ball rolling. Topics on this blog are as much up to you guys as they are up to the mods - we regulate and respond, and you generate the content in the first place. :)

SATORU GOJO - MAZDA RX-7 FC

i had tons of fun with this one too, drawing gojo doing silly poses like a little bugger is really fun lmao

hes just got such a punchable face what can i say

and also my dad helped me draw the wheels of the car, because he said the stock wheels were lame and since the rx-7 is his favourite car (specifically the fd, not the fc but like close enough) he drew what he thought would be the best for it and i kept it in the final

his license plate is VIEYES (6eyes for those of you who dont know roman numerals)

a little worldbuilding time here!!

-Satoru adopts Megumi as a kid, since Toji knew the Gojo family since they were involved in the same business (dubiously illegal definitely morally grey) and after Toji had been killed in a physical fight after a race gone badly he left Megumi and Tsumiki to Satoru.

-Tsumiki doesn't race like Megumi does, she's more interested in watching the races and supporting her little brother than anything else

-Satoru, being 17 when Toji died and obviously very obsessed with his car and just getting into the racing scene, talked to Megumi and Tsumiki about cars and what he was interested in since he didn't really know how to actually raise a kid at 17

-Megumi, being basically spoonfed drifting propaganda his whole life, couldn't wait until Satoru would teach him how to actually drive a car

-this resulted in many crashes. like. very very many crashes.
