R.E.M. - Fables of the Reconstruction (1985)
On this day—June 10, 1985—R.E.M. released their third studio album, Fables of the Reconstruction (or Reconstruction of the Fables). In a departure for the band, the album was recorded outside the US and the band’s first to be produced by someone other than Don Dixon and Mitch Easter. Produced by London-based Joe Boyd, Fables would expand the group’s growing popularity with singles such as “Driver 8,” which would become one of the band’s most popular songs.
