Something I find interesting is how some people make Gaster out to be this final boss villain character.
It's sometimes interpreted that he wrote the prophecy to be followed to the letter, and that he'd be angry if it's defied.
But the thing is that when we do what is seen as impossible, inevitable, in beating the Knight in Chapter 3, he's not upset, he's intrigued, interested. He basically roots for you to win.
What if that's why he wrote the prophecy? To see if it could be defied?
Can the determined - those with the willpower - overcome the determined - an "inevitable" fate?
After all, he's a scientist. This is an experiment, not just a story to be told as written.
