Yurgovuchia's Inspection
A Yurgovuchia doellingi with the colouration of a Cedar waxwing inspects a snowy burrow during the cold season.
❖
The last 4 months of my life have not been great.
But today was nice, I think.
If there's anything good I can end the night on I think it's that younger me would've been extremely proud of this. I used to be shit at dromaeosaurids.
I love how the duality of non-avian dinosaur names is like
"This one is called velociraptor, meaning swift robber, because of its adaptations for running. This one is called utahraptor because you'll never guess where we found it."
An experimental sketch of a Utahraptor.
Deinonychus was a small meat-eating dinosaur. It lived in what is now North America during the Early Cretaceous Period.
Natural History Musuem
Meet my favourite dromaeosaurid, Deinonychus antirrhopus I have to admit that I first found out about this dinosaur from Jurassic Park and how it was used for what they called 'Velociraptors'.
Ever since then, I have done some digging on this amazing species and it has wormed its way into my heart! It only made sense for it to be the profile picture of this blog (which clearly has some name inspiration from it)
Hope you all enjoy!
Greetings, fellow dinosaur drawers! I'm currently struggling to figure out how to realistically pose a dromaeosaur character when I'm drawing / animating them. Does anyone have any good tips or references for drawing Dromaeosaurids? /genq
Was made, well, aware of 'velociraptor awareness day' because my drawing of my velociraptor wizard made it onto Staff's cute lil' post about it!
So here's another lil' guy--will probably finish this as a painting later!
