Serving up some piping-hot slices of truth at The Throckmorton in Mill Valley, California.
Science!
I had low expectations going in. Coalition has never gained my confidence. Their beers tend toward an earthier palate and a gloppy finish. But I liked name, and I liked the label, so I bought a bottle of Dropping Science a double India pale ale chock full of Chinook hops. The first sniff wasn’t great. Yeah, pine and pith. She was enclosed, parallel, alongside buried treasure,
no man on earth could dig her out.
She had a mind that flooded akin to rivers,
overflowing with potentiality.
She was the darkness at the heels of the sun,
whoever got too close scorched in her presence.
She was the light that the moon exudes,
when the night is dim, dingy, and drab.
She was the wind when she spoke,
her words capable of being cutting, piercing, and keen.
She was her tears,

She was dangerous, fierce, and undaunted.
She knew more than she’s been told
She knew the world, and in life,
that’s all She needed to know.
She was, and still is.

The first thing that strikes you about the title track is that it’s got the funk. Pacy, filtered out kick drums and some cheeky handclaps set the tone for what is to come. Filters off,…

The wind blew off my hat,
Tricked you, I wasn't wearing one,
