While this would be a far-flung future before you touch Arc 4, what would be your plans on the cast's reaction to Subaru's first trial? I just watched the audio commentary of that episode where Rie Takahashi bawled her eyes out and just remembered your fanfic of yours.

Sure I can give you some notes about that:

Begins very fluffy, ends in devastation

Reinhard is beyond delighted to see Natsuki Kenichi, because it “confirms” the assumption he’s had since the start: that Subaru came from an entire world full of Natsuki Subarus.

Anastasia is extremely invested in this world from Beyond the Great Waterfall. She is more interested in the technology surrounding them than she is in Subaru’s family life.

(This soon becomes her actively trying to distract herself and others from what is clearly a Very Personal Set Of Memories actually.)

The idea that Subaru gave up and holed himself up in his room for months like that is met with utter bewilderment because it does not fit with their impression of even the Subaru who first arrived in Lugunica at all. It’s not even a matter of him being lazy or not wanting to improve because he fully dove into his work as a manservant the moment he had the chance, so — it’s pretty clear from the very start that Something Else is going on, here.

Everyone’s impressions of Subaru’s parents are pretty varied. They’re not gonna see them as the Perfect Parents or anything, and different characters will have different ideas about what they should have done or w/e, but they’re all gonna understand that Subaru’s parents wanted what was best for him and loved him very, very much.

Ricardo, Rom, and Wilhelm are all particularly devastated by Subaru’s conversation with his parents, because they all have children of their own.

Subaru ends up completely bawling when it finally hits him, for the second time, that he will never see his parents again. Everyone tries to comfort him but the jar is in the way.

William is gonna have heart palpitations watching Subaru on the whales horn

Wilhelm is gong to have to watch Subaru crawl away from the White Whale with all sorts of broken bones and begging for someone to help him because he doesn’t want to die. Wilhelm is going to have so many nightmares after this.

Arguably the funniest part of the Julius Situation in No Refunds is the fact that 1) Wilhelm now has competition that he absolutely had not expected and 2) the two people currently battling for custody/fatherhood are ALSO the two people who have publicly beaten Subaru in a duel.

Something I think about a lot is how distressed Wilhelm must have been when Subaru fled from the whale saying he didn't want to die. I feel like he would remember (a flashback that happens in the anime) that, as a young man, before Theresia saved him, he was lying in the grass saying he didn't want to die. So, he would probably try to comfort Subaru afterwards because he understands that feeling and would like it if Subaru didn't have to feel ashamed of that scene.

There’s no fucking way that seeing his beloved not-grandson stumbling away from his fourteen-year-old enemy with all his bones broken all alone and crying out for help after damn near everyone (including Lady Crusch) had abandoned him wouldn’t completely traumatize that old man. I’m not even sure he’d be able to make that connection between Subaru and his past self, he’d likely just have a panic attack on the spot. Combine that with his astounding lack of emotional intelligence and the idea that Subaru might be ashamed of that moment may not even cross his mind at all.

There’s a reason that Wilhelm is the one who’s most adamant about stripping Subaru of his knighthood in No Refunds. This scene is the reason.

So quick question what of all of subarus deaths which one hit them the hardest?

It really differs from person to person, but here’s a couple:

Rachins: The one where he stabbed Subaru to death. It was largely an accident, and there are other, worse deaths that come after that, but he just can’t get the image of his own self murdering someone in cold blood out of his head.

Eridna and Beatrice: The first Arc 2 loop. Beatrice wasn’t his contracted partner yet, but she is now, and — she apparently once abandoned him to die, despite the fact that it would have taken her five seconds to just remove that fucking curse. Beatrice is devastated, Eridna is furious.

Rem and Ram: I don’t think there’s any possible answer that isn’t the loop where Rem tortured him for hours before Ram killed him in order to keep him quiet.

Wilhelm: The second Petelgeuse death. Not because of the grotesqueness of the Archbishop’s actions — he’s seen worse, probably — but because of the very painful and haunting realization of the similarities between his own righteous anger and the anguish-inducing display of rage that Subaru presented in response to Rem’s death.

Mimi, Crusch, Felt, and Reinhard: The third Petelgeuse death. Nobody was there. Mimi, Crusch, and Reinhard are all anguished about their failures to be there for him when he was outright begging for help, but Felt is just completely pissed with the lot of them (sans Reinhard, who was legit just not there due to a spell of bad luck).

Ferris: Both of Subaru’s suicides offend him on a very personal level, but the one he does in an attempt to save Rem (and by extension, Crusch and the rest of that lot) from Gluttony has so many other complicated feelings tied up in it that he just — it’s a lot.

Julius: If you think Julius is getting a little too overprotective now, imagine how that man is going to react to watching Subaru attempt to PET THE GREAT RABBIT.

Anastasia and Emilia: The Kiss of Death served as the final nail in the coffin for Anastasia’s opinion of the Emilia Camp as a fucking clown show — especially after she learned what Emilia thought kisses did. Emilia knew the context from the start and now she’s traumatized by her understanding of what she tried to do.

simple Subarus ordeal made him stronger so will would think the same thing would happen for heinkel and his son would have some great achievements to his name

…I think we have VERY different reads of the series.
