i had a thought last night of a rain world themed chess board, and wanted to get some peer review on tumblr. my working idea for now is:
white king: five pebbles white queen: looks to the moon black king: seven red suns black queen: no significant harassment rooks: red lizards bishops: cyan lizards knights: scavengers pawns: slugcats
i wanted to only use things that appear or are mentioned in vanilla as well so i'm sure there are necessarily better candidates for some of these things, but vanilla-only is most accessible imo. that being said, i'm not super sold on the rooks and bishops being lizards. in terms of power and mobility i think it makes sense, but it just feels out of place for them to be lizards? i'm not sure what else it could be though.
moon being the queen is a little odd, i know, considering her state in survivor's time, but i think it makes sense for iterators to be the kings and queens, and it could always be pre-collapse moon. i personally think it makes the most sense if pebbles is the king, though really if you think about it in actual chess terms none of this makes sense lmao. i'm just not sure who else to use yknow. i guess in a way putting pebbles and suns as the kings is more a representation of their hands being tied?
also i know pawns being slugcats doesn't make the most sense with promotion rules, but i imagine instead of a 'promotion' when the slugcats reach the end of the board, they ascend and gain powers of their choosing. like saint, i guess, if you will. obviously they don't turn into an iterator but they can gain extra mobility etc etc.
anyway. thoughts? recommendations? i'd love to get feedback on this.
considering spreading my agenda to the zelda fandom on TikTok because it SUCKS over there
