Eddie stepped out of his van, boots crunching on the gravel below his feet. It hadn't been this busy at work since before the mall had been built; so, he supposed to made sense that after it collapsed, customers returned to his brick and mortar store. He walked down the long driveway, reaching up to tighten his ponytail, as the summer months were heating up again and stringy hair stuck to his neck was not the look.
He glanced over into the side yard, and nearly tripped over his own feet. A young man was next to their pool, in nothing but a fairly small pair of swimshorts. The young man looked up, noticing he was being stared at, and raised his hand to send Eddie a small wave and smile, before going back to- cleaning their pool?
"Okay," Eddie said to himself, turning his attention on the house.
"Dustin? Light of my life? My muse, my companion through the Shadowfell? My partner-"
"In the study," a voice called back to him down the hall. The study. The study that looked out over the garden and pool. Okay, Eddie repeated to himself. He made his way down the hall, and found Dustin at his desk, writing out notes, and make rough sketches. He was no artist, not in the classical sense, but Eddie's work would be lost without him. He had no idea about composition, framing, dialogue, but Dustin did. It's why they worked so well together.
"Hey," Dustin smiled up at him, eyes crinkling as Eddie leaned down to kiss him. "I love when you have your hair back. Makes a good handle."
"Maybe later," Eddie said, before fixing him with an expectant look. Dustin just blinked at him owlishly, but Eddie knew it was a ruse. They hadn't been together for fifteen years for Eddie to not be able to see through the puppy dog look.
"What?" Dustin asked innocently, as though he wasn't a 33 year old grown man.
"Love, why is there a barely dressed twink in our yard?" Eddie asked him, and while he trusted Dustin to never cheat on him, it was still not at all what Eddie expected to see upon getting home.
"Twink?" Dustin repeated, as though he didn't know the word. "Oh, you mean Steve? I hired him as our new house keeper. We talked about hiring someone, remember?"
Eddie nodded his head repeated, feigned agreement. "Right, right, yeah. And you decided on... the twink."
Dustin just rolled his eyes, and while Eddie loved him to helheims gate and back, the guy had an attitude sometimes. A tone.
"I went to pick up a few movies, and I heard him trying to get a job there. Or, rather, he was firmly rejected, and his girlfriend was trying to argue to get him said job. They'd both lost work from Star Court collapsing. I just... stepped in and asked if he had experience cleaning, cooking, pool work. He did. So..." Dustin trailed off with a shrug, but that was a pretty big shrug for what he'd actually done. They had been looking for a live in house keeper. Eddie was expecting a nice grandmotherly type, not... Steve.
".... So, the twink." Eddie repeated, and Dustin let out a puff from his nose.
"He's barely a twink, Eds, he...he has chest hair and he's 19." Dustin said quickly, clearly pulling at straws.
"Babe," Eddie said softly. "He looks like if Bambi was a human, who was also a gogo dancer."
Dustin finally dropped pretenses, shoulders falling. "Okay, maybe, but... Is it that bad to have someone around who can do the job and is nice to look at?" Dustin looked out the window to where, Jesus Christ, Steve was on his hands and knees getting something out of the pool drain.
"It's a little creepy, my gentle bard." Eddie said, reaching over to cup his cheek. "But, you know I can't deny you anything."
Which, was exactly why they weren't unaccustomed to finding a third from time to time. When they first started dating, it became pretty clear, pretty fast, that they both leaned dom, though neither of them was super picky on topping or bottoming. But, as Dustin was getting older, his tastes were changing. His taste in wanting to dom and top were more common, and Eddie had no issues with watching his boyfriend fuck another cute guy into the bed.
"I don't want to fuck him," Dustin said, like he could read Eddie's mind. "He's Daniel Harrington's son. He's just... attractive."
"Eugh," Eddie immediately reacted. He'd been closer in age to Danny in school than Dustin had been, and the guy was a stuck up dick. Now that Dustin mentioned it, he could see the similarities between Steve and Danny. "Hopefully he doesn't act like-"
"Excuse me?" Steve's head peaked into the office, and Eddie jumped slightly. Hadn't he just been outside? Oh, he looked even nicer up close. Broad shoulders, little waist, nice ass, thick thighs that looked soft from tanned skin and soft brown hair. "Hi, Mr Henderson. Uh, you must be Mr Munson? My friend Robin is a huge fan of your store and your comics. She loves, uhh, what was her name. Daphne?"
The lesbian character in his comics. Interesting. "Thanks, nice to meet you." Eddie told him, sending him a small wave. "What's up?"
"I unclogged the pool, but the water levels are all off. I was going to get the chemicals out of the shed, but it's locked." Steve said, shifting from one foot to the other, hand on his hip. "Do you have a key?"
"Yeah, of course." Dustin said, standing up quickly, and smiling brightly at Steve. "Let me help you out, I can show you exactly where everything is."
Eddie sent him an amused look. Maybe he should have felt more jealous that Dustin was eying up Steve, but honestly...it was kind of cute.
He supposed it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have Steve around.
