Uji Performa dan Kinerja Mesin Menggunakan Engine Dynamometer
Jika berbincang mengenai pengujian dan juga pengukuran pada performa sebuah mesin, tentu hal tersebut tidak dapat dipisahkan dari pengujian yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan Engine Dynamometer maupun Chassis Dynamometer. Karena kedua pengujian tersebut memang memiliki fungsi yang sama, yaitu untuk melakukan pengukuran pada performa maksimal serta pengujian pada mesin, baik itu kendaraan atapun mesin pabrikan.
Untuk kesempatan kali ini, kita akan berfokus pada alat Engine Dynamometer, walapun memiliki fungsi yang sama dengan Chassis Dynamometer. Engine Dynamometer ini memiliki cara kerja yang berbeda, cara kerja dari alat tersebut adalah dengan memasangkan mesin menuju ke absorber dari alat pengujian, seetlah itu mesin akan mulai mengukur torsi, kecepatan maksimal dan juga rpm dari mesin tersebut, pengukuran ini juga menggunakan semacam sistem dalam pengujiannya.
Untuk absorber pada alat ini, ada beberapa macam absorber yang bisa digunakan untuk pengujian engine dynamometer ini, seperti Water Brake Absorber, motor listrik dan juga juga eddy current absosrber. Selain itu, pengujian ini juga bisa dibagi menjadi 2 kategori pengujian yaitu pengujian akselerasi dan juga pengujian steady state. Diantara kedua metode pengujian tersebut pengujian akselerasi lebih banyak digunakan, karena dalam sistem pengujiannya, metode ini dapat memberikan representasi kurva pada torsi atau daya yang lebih luas dan juga lebih cepat.
Akan tetapi, ketika menggunakan loadcell dalam pengujiannya, ada beberapa alasan yang membuat kenapa output power pada mesin tidak dapat diuji, salah satu masalah yang sering terjadi adalah karena gesekan dari mesin, baik itu gesekan mekanis ataupun itu gesekan aerodinamis pada kopling yang menuju ke dynamometer, hal ini dapat menyebabkan berkurangnya daya yang bisa ditransfer menuju ke alat dynamometer.
Selain digunakan untuk melakukan pengujian pada daya dan juga torsi maksimal pada mesin atau pada sebuah kendaraan, beberapa jenis dari engine dynamometer juga bisa digunakan untuk melakukan pengujian pada inersia dalam pengujian engine. Dengan melewati beberapa tahap dan proses pengujian, dan juga dengan memanfaatkan software yang sangat mendukung dalam proses tahap pengujian pada mesin.
