Here’s a bit of an odd piece! It’s a Techny d20, and a rather unusual one at that since it’s translucent and swirly. Techny was a short-lived company that folded when they couldn’t pay their factory, who sold off the unpaid stock to other companies like Gamescience.
One of Brooks Stevens' exotic "Skytop" parlor-lounge-observations brings up the rear of Milwaukee Road's train #5, the w/b "Morning Hiawatha" near Techny, IL circa 1949. The train is about to duck beneath the Chicago & North Western's overpass. A Milwaukee company photo.
“MILW F-units (63A....) lead eastbound freight up the ‘dump track’ from the mainlline at Tower A-20 to the C&NW ‘New LIne’ Sub (in foreground) at ‘Shermer’...I guess that says it all. I didn't find out until about 50 years after taking this pic that the connection between the Milwaukee Road at A-20 and the C&NW at Shermer was known as the ‘Dump Track’."
