Feels Great To Have Dead Space Back.
I've only put about an hour into the newly released Dead Space remake from EA Motive, but I can already tell y'all that it feels good to be back. Part of me wants to claim that it feels so good to be playing Dead Space again because of a dearth of straightforward single player only action horror games, but that just wouldn't be true. Maybe it's disqualified on the basis of "these are all the same series", but Resident Evil 7 and 8, along with the excellent remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 (and soon 4!) have actually kept us all rolling along with this particular genre. Still, Dead Space has something that even the masters over at Capcom never really had. I'm not even sure what it is myself, to be honest, but even just playing an hour of this new remake, you can feel it again. There's something about spending more time on the Ishimura, perhaps one of the least pleasant video game settings of all time. A mining vessel that constantly looks and feels like it might be a bummer to be on board even without the horde of flesh monsters. All industrial corridors and newly bloody hallways. Would you believe this whole depressing ship is purpose built to blow up planets? It sure feels like that's the priority. Like I said, I've only played about an hour of the game thus far, and so far I've only really seen one minor deviation in the games structure, so this may be more of a straightforward remake than some might have been expecting. Still, other parts of it immediately impress me. I'm a huge fan of Isaac having full voice acting now. It makes conversations make a lot more sense when he's the one suggesting fixes for the ships various problems, rather than having a computer science person and a ships captain telling you what to do. After all, he's supposed to be an engineer, these are all problems he was brought here specifically to solve. Very much looking forward to playing more of this remake. Interested if there's any more structural changes. Frankly, just having a great time and glad this series, for the moment anyway, is back.
Replaying Dead Space ‘08 in anticipation for the remake in January
IN ‘DEAD SPACE’, EVERYONE WILL HEAR YOU SCREAM...
What, never seen Alien before? We’d suggest you educate yourself on one of the greatest movies of all time first, so you can then come back and appreciate our blog title.

Great, isn’t it? How real does it look when the baby xenomorph bursts through the guy’s stomach?! Can you believe that was released in 1979... Sorry, this is not a blog in any way affiliated with Ridley Scott. But seeing as you’re now in the mood for horrifying survival in the black abyss, yesterday’s gameplay reveal for the Dead Space remake has sent a chill down our spine that we’ve not felt for some time!
If you’re familiar with this franchise that arrived on the scene in 2008, then you’ll already know something has gone horribly wrong on board the mining ship USG Ishimura! But if not then hit play right now and prep for sweat on your brow! There’s a thought, does sweat even run down your face in space? One for google...
Rebuilt from the ground up by EA’s Motive Studio, our news post on Instagram this week covered an extract from an article on what project leads deemed a ‘remake’ to be when it comes to Dead Space. Check it here!
General feedback on yesterday’s gameplay has been largely positive from you guys via our social channels, with only one or two of you a little less impressed. We keep in mind that as the original was released on PS3 and Xbox 360, the jump in graphical improvements is not MASSIVE. But for those looking to be scared out of their wits all over again, or if you’re stepping into the lonely suit of Isaac Clarke for the first time, then you’ll do a MILLION times worse than this absolutely essential game in the survival horror genre... With new content and modern enhancements of course!
We’re excited to announce that pre-orders are now live on our website! Secure your copy with us on PS5 & Xbox Series X at The Game Collection!

Fleshing out the Log One characters some more for the Dead Space mini-series thing.
Rook's neat.
Working on a Dead Space animatic these past couple of days, run time is gonna be about 4 or 5 minutes! May do a lil series, too; I've been enjoying the process. <3
