One thing that always fascinates/amuses me about Eagle Strike is the jump from Yassen watching with worry as Alex is dragged away by Cray's guards to be put in the game simulation, to him calmly studying Japanese in his room and smiling when he hears the alarms and knows that Alex escaped.

Like I can't decide which is funnier, for Yassen to go 'oh no Alex may get killed ☹️ anyway whatever, time for Japanese' or for Yassen to worry about Alex (a new emotion, he doesn't usually worry about people's wellbeing) and it's kinda bugging him like yeah it's Alex's fault he got caught but Yassen would prefer if he survived, you know? It's very stressful so he goes to his room to study some Japanese because language learning always relaxes him 🥰🥰 And then he hears Alex escaped like Yassen hoped he might! 😃😃 In no version of this does he consider pulling Alex out of the death trap himself agdhdhfhf
