As for Vecna, the point is that his presence has been seen in the show vividly at least since s2, although in 1x02 we have the Abyss — The Dark Crystal reference, which also has impacted Vecna’s mind lair; for sure it can be just a directorial nod and not literally Brenner directing the mind lair), but the Lab workers collected Mike’s game in s1, and no matter what we think is true, whether the timeline is correct or that was something that happened pre-s1 but was just shown as a main story of s1 (I believe this), we can assume that the game could’ve been used for creating the narrative for the kids in Nina, which would explain Vecna’s presence in general as their big bad. But we also know that Vecna and Brenner are pretty connected (or the same? not Henry tho)

So, can we say that ST shows the way the kids* are trying to beat the big bad in their heads (imaginary/virtual world/the hologram), and there’s a real story painted with these D&D colours? or could it mean the demos are also literally a part of the game inserted in their ‘play’?

although I have one more theory about the demos nature too, where they are a real sci-fi part of this all (but couldn’t not share this train of thought with you either!), I’ll post soon!

* here I’d say Mike in the first place, but not in a way where he’s alone in his head and everything is imaginary… I haven’t finished the text including what I think of his part in this story yet, but just wanted to make it clearer, that I don’t insist here, in this post, on the kids roles in Nina

so, given that a Vecna-included plot had been inbuilt at least since s2 (and it feels like s1 still needed to be rewatched one more time to make sure whether there are hints to Vecna as well, which, I’m pretty convinced, is possible)

can we all agree that it was implied to go all these ways since the beginning, and that the Duffers, pitching their show to Netflix, had to explain the main ideas before getting money for season 1, which would mean, that they’d go with explaining the byler endgame concept, as this is a queer show at its core focusing on a queer character, being taken to the Valley of Shadow/Shame (the UD) which also leads us to Vecna’s presence in season 2, as to someone/-thing preventing their main queer character to get his happy ending?

(which would mean, that Netflix gave them the green light back in 2016, and wouldn’t try to change it for the finale)

ps. yes, I know they counted firstly to deal with s1, but it doesn’t mean that building a plot for self-sufficient s1 excluded a possibility of knowing where they’d head with it after/if it succeeds
