Easter this year
Well, I was a day late, but I've finally done it. I thought I had missed Easter, because I thought it was on the 14th. For those of you who don't know, I take Easter as an excuse to leave grown adults trails of eggs full of chocolate or candy, with gift baskets or large eggs at the end, with one twist, every egg has it's own riddle or puzzle to solve to find the next egg, or sets of eggs or other hidden object act as clues to the next item in the quest... like a real life search puzzle game.
I've been simple about it before, either making simpler trails of riddles for my mom and her roommate, or leaving winding trails of chocolate eggs up walls and across ceilings (there was one chocolate egg that stayed taped to the ceiling for almost a year and drove the cats crazy), or just hiding 7 or so eggs in tricky places for my ex's roommates. This year though, I made a trail for my roommate.
There are 45 eggs, all cleverly hidden, 2 word puzzles, all the eggs that don't have word puzzles have riddles or hints. Some of the eggs have notes in them, with others they are hidden close-by. There are a few elaborate hints, a challenge to get a key to unlock something, and one hint that will run away when he tries to get it (because it's guarded by a dragon, lol).. I'm also one of the hints. And there's a lot of flavour text about a white rabbit, who affectionately calls him 'Alice'. All for the price of a package of Hershey's kisses, and a strawberry chap-stick... Let's see how he does.
So after this Easter passes, I get to go buy more coloured eggs and coloured baskets when they're all on sale for next year. I'll also be doing a trail for my mother later this month, probably.
I call it "Riddles for roommates" and it's my not-for-profit one-woman bunny-eared organization to help adults feel like confused children again. It's one of the many causes I support.
