Separately, I am just beaming with pride over the photos for this week's post. One of my #2018goals was to improve my food photography, and that, plus generally focusing on those goals, has meant a focus on quality over quantity in my food writing and blogging world. But the photos this week make it "worth it", because I am pretty proud of the investment I have made in my own skills and how it is paying off! Perhaps the "signature dish" of Common Lot, the 12-hour lamb shoulder. The "accessories" are changed up now and then, but right now it's being served with and oyster soy caramel sauce, house-made kimchi, sweet pickled cucumbers, and shredded lettuce, all meant to be gathered in a bao bun for a sort of 'korean taco' experience. It looks so nice and orderly in this "before" photo, but once you slice into that fall-off-the-bone meat, the experience becomes transformative... It's primal, it's messy, and it's delicious. Just get in there and enjoy it. Taking the kids on a brunch tour this weekend for restaurant trials. Luckily they can eat like this! Yes, that's one of the secrets of a food blogger - we can't exactly eat all those pancakes ourselves. That's why we have children. We eat the healthy eggs at brunch and just try a bite of the stack our kids order.
