So in my HC for Echo deciding to go with Rex, he decides to tell Tech first. They’ve bonded a lot since tbb rescued Echo on Skako Minor, working on Echo’s prosthesis together, figuring out technical issues with the Marauder, and just general smart stuff and lots of loving bickering

Tech will never replace Fives for Echo but he somehow manages to fill a lot of the gaps that Fives left. Echo knows Tech doesn’t like change necessarily so he tells him first so it gives him time to process that Echo is leaving

This is the little scene I have in my head of how their conversation went

Echo: I don't know, maybe if y'all let me FINISH for ONCE IN MY LIFE, I'd tell you!

PS - Wrecker isn’t there, and Echo is weirded out that the team has a stuffed creature. He is also having a bad day.
