Okay real talk.

We all hate what happened. It was horrible and we all love him. But let's talk about it from a story writing standpoint.

Tech from the beginning of this season has been trying to show his love for his family in the ways he knows how. In Ruins of War, he showed it by perservering to help Omega and Echo even through a painful injury, which is very in character. In Faster, he showed his loyalty to not only his family but Cid by competing in the race. In Truth and Consequences, he helped find the information to help ALL his brothers. The Crossing showed him jumping without hesitation the moment he saw Omega in danger. And then he told Omega "I may not process moments and thoughts the saw way, but it isn't mean I feel any less than you do." Also he was the first person to say hey needed to go save Crosshair.

All of these inherently small moments show how much Tech loves his brothers and sister and his care for them. Tech's love language is sacrifice.

He sacrificed his safety multiple times to help and show his family he cares, he sacrifices things he wants to do to make his brothers and Omega happy.

He sacrificed his life to show his family he loves them.

Tech's character arc this season shows that even though he isn't affectionate, he loves his family so much.

The Bad Batch Headcanons but I'm a fanfiction author

Tech is insanely flexible. To the degree that his legs look broken when he sits cross-legged. It really freaked Echo out when he first joined the squad.

Crosshair smokes when he thinks Hunter isn't around. But Hunter can smell it on him, even after he washes up.

Omega wants to dye her hair to fit in with her brothers but Hunter constantly tells her how beautiful her natural color is.

Wrecker gives the best hugs and gets sad when people are scared of him. Tech lets him hug him to feel better, even though Tech isn't fond of physical affection.

Hunter tends to suppress his emotions and when he gets overwhelmed Tech sits with him while he cries.

Crosshair and Hunter argue a lot, Wrecker gets really stressed about it so he asks Tech to ramble to him to distract him.

Tech constantly has a bruise on his forehead from dropping his datapad. He once cracked his goggled from it.

Crosshair is really protective over Tech, ever since they were cadets. He felt especially betrayed when Tech left him behind.

We all know and love autistic Tech, so how about autistic Tech with low empathy? He feels guilty constantly for not having the appropriate emotional reactions to certain circumstances.

Omega is really terrified of being alone again. She doesn't mind solitude but she refuses to be left behind alone on a mission because she doesn't want to lose her family again.

Echo is absolutely terrified of medical equipment and explosions. Anytime Wrecker blows something up, he has a small panic attack.

Echo knows a lot of Mando'a from Rex and he's in the process of teaching Tech how to speak it.

Whenever Hunter gets anxious he listens to his brother's heartbeats to calm himself down.
