Hudson Williams getting microaggressed by being left out in an article when talking about how actors from the show should be up for Emmys days after the US mens olympic hockey team wins gold with the highest american born point scorer in the NHL, Jason Robertson, left off the olympic roster bc “his game isn’t physical enough”.

I wish i could say i was surprised. I’m fucking not tho. People continue, esp white fans, to not take the racism that asians and esp wasians who are more asian looking, face seriously. You guys didn’t even clock the fucking overt microaggressive question shane had to face from the french speaking reporter in the show, so why the fuck would yall ever even consider how Hudson Williams is portraying himself post Heated Rivalry and how he is still having to fight for his spot in a white dominated industry just like Shane Hollander in the show and Jason Robertson and Nick Suzuki in the NHL?

bc it’s the ten year anniversary, sharing my truth. Shane Hollander, the most chronically offline man ever, would have 100% heard about pride tape when it was on kickstarter and was one of the founding backers. Also that the Irina Foundation would support it and post about it like the Oilers foundation. They would totally use it at the camps and i fucking know at least Ryan would be using it, but honestly i think all of them would because it is a key part of their goal with the Irina foundation. Sure they get some chirps from it and questions from the media, but their response are pretty easy to guess.

Shane: “Statistically LGBT+ people are some of the most at risk groups for depression and suicide. We are doing our best to make hockey a welcoming space for them. It is already a difficult space in terms of skill level and schedule, any axis we can make it easier for anyone to join hockey, the better.”

Ilya: “It is rainbow tape. Is tape as ancient as Scott Hunter we are only allowed to have white and black like old TV screen?”

Shane’s characterization as a judgemental bitchy asshole is very near and dear to me heart but so is his genuine earnest communication with Ilya and Rose. The two people that know him the most. The two people that have been with him biblically(tm).

I interpret the scene of Ilya being jealous of him texting Rose at the cottage not being about him having had sex with Rose but what the sex means. It means emotional intimacy. The fact that Shane is the one after sex engaging in pillow talk or even outside of it checking up on Ilya. And Ilya knows Shane has a very curated media friendly image and that he probably keeps that mask in private too.

Layered on top of that the mask exists because Shane is an autistic asian man in a predominately neurotypical white space and needed to fit in, so he definitely had that earnestness bullied out of him as a young child via “gullible” pranks, fake friends, and general bullying.

So for Ilya to see him earnestly laugh and hang on someone else’s texts, he knows how much that means in terms of closeness for Shane. That it takes an immense amount of time and trust for Shane to lower down his walls and say “do you want to go back?” “sick, like crazy?” “we’re definitely going to beat you tonight”. It took Ilya literal YEARS. So yeah of course he’s jealous Rose got that emotional intimacy.

Do the right thing Jacob Tierney, have Dallas Kent be called a rapist by Troy Barrett and get his shit rocked by Ilya Rozanov after he says that heinous chirp included in season 2 of Heated Rivalry and you will be reborn as a lotus flower

0 days since seeing shit takes about Yuna and David Hollander. They are complex characters and i wish they were treated with that respect like the rest of the cast. It’s unendingly frustrating to see zero or little to no nuance on them. Especially as someone who is wasian like Shane and has an asian mom and a white dad like Shane.

This isn’t even mentioning that Loving v Virginia’s ruling is still less than 100 years old (1967, my parents were born before this ruling!) and that Canada’s social pressures against interracial relationships had an informal extra-legal regime upheld by court decisions keeping interracial relationships in the low percentages until 1990s! That’s not even mentioning the Indian Act of Canada, the Chinese Exclusion Act of the US, immigration/residency/citizenship bullshit and general demonization against specifically Asian/White relationship that continues into modern day

If you want to see actual good interpretations of Yuna and David cannot recommend Learning to Fly by WriteSmart and Observations on Fatherhood by HH_Arrow enough. They do a fantastic and very realistic exploration of both characters and i really wish for the fandom to understand some racism and what having an interracial kid in north america means

an absolutely cursed thought popped into my head while reading we breed lions. Shane Hollander and Scott Hunter in universe cis straight male hockey fans could not handle the fact that their goats take it up the ass. like that one post about male fans of things disliking shipping and the response is “cant handle that your goats take it up the ass?” Cis het male hockey fans definitely could not handle that shane takes it up the ass only and scott takes it up the ass sometimes. and now i want this featured in a crack fic so bad
