Edge Imp Frightfuloid
Edge Imp Cotton Eater ———————————————— All Fusion Monsters you control gain 300 ATK. Once per turn, if a "Frightfur" Fusion Monster is Fusion Summoned to your field: You can draw 1 card. ———————————————— If this card is Special Summoned: You can inflict 200 damage to your opponent for each "Frightfur" monster in your GY. You can only use this effect of "Edge Imp Cotton Eater" once per turn. ———————————————— Can Be Found In: V Jump Spring 2017 (VJMP-JP129)
As time progresses, themes and archetype will try to expand horizons with new mechanics to stay prevalent with current strategies. Themed builds and even classic monsters will gain new options to either improve their performance with today's gamestyles, or simply gain new tools to add a new approach to their Deck. While some of these cards might not become staple choices for the cards that interacts with, is still a fresh addition that could have an important role right away or after future releases assisiting these new tools.
"Edge Imp Cotton Eater" is one of the extremely scarce Pendulum Monsters able to assist the several archetypes involving Fluffals. In many situations "Cotton Eater" will provide its Pendulum effect, as will grant an ATK boost of 300 to our Fusion Monsters while also letting us draw a card once per turn after Fusion Summoning a Frightfur. As a monster "Cotton Eater" isn't that impressive yet still quite handy, as in response of its own Special Summon we will deal 200 damage for each Frightfur monster in our Graveyard. Overall, "Cotton Eater" will stay in the Pendulum Zone to assist us with its effects, but as more Pendulum options are implemented arround Fluffals is quite possible to finish off the opponent with its Special Summons.
A Fluffal Deck is all about searching materials for their Fusion Summons and still keep a steady hand for future options, obtaining plenty of opportunities to bring "Cotton Eater" as soon as possible. In most circumstances "Frightfur Patchwork" will lead the early game by not only searching "Cotton Eater" but also "Polymerization", quite likely following with a Fusion Summon due its many benefits. The most likely situation to Special Summon "Cotton Eater" is being sent to the Graveyard for a Fusion or Xyz Summon, as afterwards cards like "Designer Frightfur" and "Fluffal Angel" will revive it. "Fluffal Angel" is for now the second Pendulum Monster available for the archetype, therefore able to constantly Pendulum Summon "Cotton Eater" from our hand and Extra Deck along the proper Scales (Most likely by another copy of "Cotton Eater"). Otherwise, "Fluffal Octopus" can retrieve "Cotton Eater" from our Graveyard to our hand to be once again in our Pendulum Zone or be used as material.
While the possibility to be summoned each turn and deal damage thanks to cards like "Fluffal Angel" is there, "Cotton Eater" most promiment purpose will be in our Pendulum Zone. While its burn damage is limited to one use regardless of number of copies, its ATK boost and drawing effect can be stacked along a second copy of "Cotton Eater" in our other Pendulum Zone. Combined with staple cards like "Fluffal Penguin" and "Toy Vendor", Fluffal becomes one of the best Fusion Decks out there as we are able to keep a high number of cards at hand after each Fusion Summon. On the other hand, "Frightfur Sabre-Tooth" can combine its ATK boost with "Cotton Eater", and together with its revival effect and others like the mentioned "Fluffal Angel" is possible to overwhelm the opponent in battles without the help of Link Monsters. Keep on mind that the effect damage of "Cotton Eater" isn't limited to Fusion Monsters, so we can take a few shortcuts with "Edge Imp Frightfuloid" landing in our Graveyard to increase its effectiveness.
Even with the lack of Pendulum Monsters in the archetype, "Edge Imp Cotton Eater" can act alone and still become a solid support for the build. While the ATK boost is quite helpful, is its drawing effect that truly stands out to recover from expenses by our constant Fusion Summons. And while "Fluffal Angel" covers most of its shortcomings and even assists us with its Special Summon(s), the possibility to play two copies in our Pendulum Zones together with other drawing effects will further improve our performance each turn. Unfortunately the fact that is a high Level Pendulum Monster places it in a more restricted position compared to other Edge Imps, as while its allies can be constantly retrieved from the Graveyard for their respective effects and Fusion Summons "Cotton Eater" is most likely to end in our Extra Deck and never come back unless with the right Scales. Combined with its best effects limited to Fusion Summons "Cotton Eater" and its Burn damage likely becoming situational might not be as important of an Edge Imp as others. But the potential benefits that provides once the archetype gets momentum makes it a great choice even if stays alone in our backrow.
Personal Rating: A-
+ Gives 300 ATK to all our Fusion Monsters + Lets us draw a card after Fusion Summoning a Frightfur + If Special summoned will deal 200 damage for each Frightfur in our Graveyard + Sinergy with "Fluffal Angel" and other drawing effects including its own copies
- Monster effect is either situational or has variable results - Lacking support in an archetype barely focused arround Pendulum Summon - Other Edge Imps will take priority since are easier to summon and/or retrieve
Edge Imp Cotton Eater
Frightfur Daredevil ———————————————— 1 "Edge Imp" monster + 1 "Fluffal" monster When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle: You can inflict 1000 damage to your opponent. If this face-up card is destroyed by battle, or leaves the field because of an opponent's card effect while its owner controls it: You can inflict 500 damage to your opponent for each "Frightfur" monster in your Graveyard. You can only use this effect of "Frightfur Daredevil" once per turn. ———————————————— Can Be Found In: Duelist Pack: Dimensional Guardians (DPDG-EN006)
Most Frightfurs are Fusion Monsters created by a combination of two archetypes working in the same build. Fluffals and Edge Imps combine their abilities to gather materials to afterwards perform easy Fusion Summons, resulting in cheap yet highly aggresive results. Although the introduction of the Extra Monster Zone weakened their OTK potential, the whole Deck is still able to perform expensive Fusion Summons and still have plenty of resources left to keep bringing Frightfurs turn after turn.
"Frightfur Daredevil" provides a series of effects along high stats to keep the pressure against the opponent right from the first turns. When "Daredevil" destroys a monster in battle, in return it will deal 1000 damage to the opponent. But if "Daredevil" leaves the field, no matter if is destroyed or retired by an opponent's effect, instead we will deal 500 damage for each Frightfur monster in our Graveyard. The Fusion Monster might not seem that prevalent when compared to the rest of Frightfurs, but overall "Daredevil" allow us to deal constant damage no matter if we're on the lead in battles or the opponent tries to disrupt our setups.
By asking any Edge Imp and Fluffal for its Fusion Summon, "Daredevil" has it very easy to be brought to the field right on time. With the mere use of "Frightfur Patchwork" we will obtain an Edge Imp along "Polymerization", with further assistance of "Toy Vendor" or "Fluffal Dog" to gather Fluffals. "Fluffal Owl" not only allow us to obtain "Polymerization", but also let us Fusion Summon "Daredevil" with its effect rather depending on other cards. Some cards and setups arround the Graveyard further eases the arrival of our Frightfurs ranging from "Edge Imp Sabres" revival effect, "Toy Vendor" once sent to the Graveyard by a disruptive effect or by an effect like "Foolish Burial Goods", or "Frightfur Fusion" directly using materials straight from our Graveyard. Although the build lost its swarm potential due the Extra Monster Zone we can still revive "Daredevil" afterwards if properly Fusion Summoned, so we can depend on cards like "Suture Rebirth" to bring back "Daredevil" despite losing its effects in the process.
The role of "Daredevil" on the board is pretty straightforward, with its effects becoming more lethal the later it comes to the field. With its 3000 ATK it can overcome many enemies on its own, making it very difficult to take down unless with support of other cards. That's where its Graveyard effect will come into action, as no matter if is defeated in battle or removed by non-destructive methods such as "Compusory Evacuation Device" of "Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer" the opponent will lose Life Points in the process. But due the nature of this effect the defeat of "Daredevil" won't be that dangerous until later turns, so simply focus on other Frightfurs as well dumping members like "Edge Imp Frightfuloid" from the Main Deck until "Daredevil" becomes very riskful to take down. In the meantime, "Daredevil" attacks will keep dealing solid damage to pressure the opponent to get rid of it, further encouraging fueling our Graveyard for that purpose.
"Frightfur Daredevil" is far from being a staple choice among its members, but has high potential to finish Duels no matter the outcomes arround it. By simply focusing on the rest of the archetype's Fusion Summons, "Daredevil" can be saved for the last turns to defeat the opponent by either its attacks or by its own defeat. Along a simple summon condition, "Daredevil" might not be an important Frightfur compared to others, but can lead the late game no matter the situation of the Duel.
Personal Rating: B+
+ Deals damage each time it defeats a monster in battle + Deals damage if destroyed or removed from the field by the opponent's attacks or effects + Very effective pressure in late game
- Graveyard effect will only be powerful in late game - Overshadowed by other Frightfur options

Frightfur Patchwork ———————————————— Add 1 "Polymerization" and 1 "Edge Imp" monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only activate 1 "Frightfur Patchwork" per turn. ———————————————— Can Be Found In: Dimension Box Limited Edition (DBLE-JP022)
Searching effects are and have always been one of the best resources for any Deck capable to use them. Even if they have costy requeriments for their activation, obtaining a particular card without waiting to be drawn is a valuable ability that allow us to play our main goals as fast as possible. It really depends of the build we're working with, as while some searching effects have conditions to balance their potential others will just give all what the player needs without any drawbacks.
"Frightfur Patchwork" is a searching tool provided to a Deck consisting on three archetypes working as one to pull out Fusion Summons, and this Spell Card along can skip the majority of the process right from the start of the game. When used, "Frightfur Patchwork" allow us to obtain a "Polymerization" and any Edge Imp monster from the Deck to our hand, which by default is a powerful ability as give us two cards by the cost of one. Since the build mainly focuses on combining Fluffals with Edge Imps for their Fusion Summons, "Frightfur Patchwork" alone skips preparatives needed to obtain the main cards of their setups.
In a build mostly dependant of their Fusion Summons, all the outcomes arround "Frightfur Patchwork" are highly favorable for the user. To make things even more efficient, sending "Edge Imp Chain" to the Graveyard allow us to obtain "Patchwork" in return, giving us a good chance to perform consecutive Fusion Summons in a single turn. Almost all Frightfur monsters must be summoned by using a Fluffal and an Edge Imp monster together, and this Spell alone will let us get most of the tools needed for their arrival. Some Fusions like "Frightfur Tiger" and "Frightfur Leo" requires a very particular Edge Imp which "Patchwork" can quickly obtain for their arrival, while others such as "Frightfur Kraken" and "Frightfur Dare-Devil" can be brought with any Edge Imp we can get with this Spell Card. When it comes to Fluffals we don't need to worry much, as with the effects of members like "Fluffal Dog" and "Fluffal Octo" along the support of cards like "Fusion Conscription" we can fuel our hand with materials ready to use at any moment. Combine forces with Fluffals like "Fluffal Owl" and "Fluffal Cat", and there's a high chance to swarm the field with Fusion Summons by using their abilities along "Patchwork". Finally, if we're having problems gathering Fluffals or we want to diversify our Deck, we can use the obtained Edge Imp along other monsters to summon creatures like "Starving Venom Fusion Dragon" or "El Shaddoll Winda".
"Frightfur Patchwork" is undoubtly a powerful searcher for any Deck capable to add it to its card pool. Obtaining a key material for Frightfurs and "Polymerization" together, there's nothing much left to work with but the Fluffals we can use for the Fusion Summons. Combining forces with drawing effects and other searching tools to gather Fluffals, these archetypes now has an increased potential to spending entire hands for several Fusion Summons and recover immediately for its next setups. The only problem we have to worry about is in late game, as "Patchwork" only has three copies of "Polymerization" to look with and might become unusable once we run out of them inside our Deck. Besides that small risk, "Patchwork" is a must have for a build with high chances to quickly corner the opponent with consecutive Fusion Summons without many losses.
Personal Rating: A+
+ Obtains "Polymerization" along an Edge Imp monster from our Deck + Skips most of the process arround Fusion setups + Sinergy with the rest of its archetype to create consecutive Fusion Summons
- Might become a dead card in late game as we spend all "Polymerization" copies
