A hormonal disorder affecting a number of women of the reproductive age, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a condition wherein the ovaries enlarge with numerous cysts forming on the outer edge of the ovaries. Excessive weight gain and problems with ovulation are some of the commonly seen symptoms of the condition. The level of androgen too is high in women diagnosed with PCOS as compared to other women. This leads to numerous other symptoms and conditions that may prove to be harmful in the long run. Diabetes, infertility, and cancer, are some of the conditions that are associated with PCOS.
