was thinking that Tails and Vanilla would fall for a trap after Sonic and Eggman take over the emerald city (this is taking place like 4 days after sonic is cursed btw) and it being styled like a theatre performance of their execution with Eggman as the narrator and Sonic being the executioner
In theatre, the actors always face the audience so it got my brain thinking that the players in the trapped execution would be facing the audience (tails and vanilla being chained to the stage to face that way and eggman being the narrator and really hamming up the theatre of it all) but sonic’s the only one on that stage who doesn’t face the audience cuz he doesn’t care about them, he never did even before he was cursed and he certainly won’t now
cuz unlike everyone else in this city, he’s not doing this to entertain or dazzle anyone, so he just keeps his unwavering gaze on Tails as he asks him to tell the people of Oz the truth, for Tails to tell all of oz that he is nothing more than a conniving, pathetic, lying, ordinary and very mortal fox
and if killing tails is how all the lies stop then so be it. but he doesn’t have to die of course, if he truly wants to then the great and powerful wizard of oz should have no problem stopping him, right?
but with so many eyes on him in the audience, so many people staring at him with great expectations… he lies once again
oh the metaphor of society being a performance and having the big players in society make a dazzling spectacle of themselves to distract from the truth underneath <3
after months and months of torture, brainwashing and training, Eggman brings Nicky to ACE Chemicals for one final test
He informs Nicky that this was the final part of his initiation into his gang, one final task for him to complete before he can let Nicky help him any further, he needed Nicky to prove his dedication first, his devotion. The boy claimed to want to do whatever it took to help him realise his vision, to be strong, so Eggman gave him a choice:
Nicky could leave ACE chemicals back the way they came, go back to his normal life, go back to be weak and pathetic nerd he is OR he could go forward, take the plunge and drop down into chemical vats below and finally emerge as the person he always wanted to be
And Nicky, having been broken down and so far gone, makes his choice
