i'll be honest, one part of my brain wants to twist the knife in further, because what if we take this line to the max angst levels? "Why did you betray your own heart, Cathy? You have killed yourself." like okay yes, i imagine one route is still mc doing the sacrifice play, but imagine if, in order to stop him... mc had to kill matthias.

imagine, if you will, rather than stabbing your own heart literally, you do so figuratively. you plunge the knife into the chest of the man who is half of your soul, the only one who like you, the one who'd burn the world for you...

anyways, i'd just like to share this mattyass x mc excerpt i wrote when i woke up <////3 (cw: stabbing, blood, mutual murder i guess?)

A shaky gasp echoes around the cavern. Blood splatters across Juan's hand, steady and even, as he plunged the knife right into Matthias' chest. "You... you were my whole heart, you know that?" Juan's voice comes out in a hoarse whisper, low and mournful and broken. Sorrow fills Matthias' gaze, still so wonderful and terrible and oh so blue. He lays his hand over Wan's, palm still soft and warm despite the slickness of blood and the burn of betrayal. "And you were mine." "Ahh!" Sharp pain blossoms at the back of Juan's back. Blood trickles out of their mouth as they slump forward, in a ghost of an embrace with the man he loved, the man who holds the knife embedded in their back.

HEY! Okay so: start with The Raven Boys, go to The Dream Thieves, then you have Blue Lily, Lily Blue, and last but absolutely not the least, you have The Raven King! There's also a novella you can read after TRK- it's called Opal It takes place after the events of TRK

and there's three other smol things from the Raven Cycle universe Maggie's written but they occurred before the events of the Raven Cycle series so you can choose to read them or not

i read all the extras after i finished the four main books
