I'm with Linus mainly for the hip hop and variety of music played on the radio. But... the #reaganomics and the failed #trickledown theory and the #justsayno campaign created a great deal of the #fuckery we have today. Jails filled with non-violent offenders, economic inequality between Black folk and everybody else, rampant sexism, Black Lives didn't matter then either...#eleanorbumpers was just one example of far too many! So besides #hiphop #rap #r&b and radio before it was corporatized... The fashion was fun but... #racism went unchecked. And TV and film was pretty White. You could count how many shows featuring #BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color) on one hand. Most White folk didn't notice. Though there are more today most still don't. There was plenty #whiteprivilege back then too. My Mama knew though...it just didn't have a name then. My #babygirltvshow tells one #comingofage story of a young girl trying to find her place in this time period..and these issues are all part of her backdrop. #staytuned So I'm with Linus but not gonna wear blinders...I was raised to see the entire picture.
