ALSO when they're in the basement and Sherlock is trying to convince Joan by listing off the things that she could lose, first by saying no agency will adopt a child out to her, which yea hurt, but then he says "think of our family unit" and pauses!!!!! before staying the captain and precinct like MAGNIFICENT timing jlm I mean, OUR FAMILY *gestures between the two of them right after mentioning a hypothetical child* I was literally soooooo touched by that, I think that meant more to me emotionally than the "two people who love each other" moment. that's what good acting can do. just a pause after a significant word. wow. wow.

Finally watched the season finale of Elementary season 6. If this would have been the ending (like it was actually planned to) it would have been perfect. It was thrilling, there was heartbreak, angst, fluff, bury your gays, friends to enemies, friends to platonic lovers, and Sherlock and Joan as passive agressive neighbors who angrily shout at eachother other. Perfection

Elementary tries out an ending, with hope for "Whatever Remains"

“There have been grand gestures before, on either side; if developing a sting operation against the biggest criminal mastermind alive in order to protect your best friend isn’t a sign of devotion, what is? But the show has always been so careful about anything that could be construed as traditionally romantic that it’s often worked to avoid it, even if it robs Joan and Sherlock of some potentially interesting moments. (Why not show Sherlock arriving at Joan’s side after she was attacked by Michael—too expected? Too gallant?) For the show to carve out such dedicated time, for such dedicated admissions, is a big move.

Sure, it has some of the familiar Elementary shortcuts that can still grate—Sherlock, as usual, does the talking, while we’re left to wonder until this episode’s final moments what Joan has to say about it. But it’s hard to begrudge that in the brownstone, watching Joan and Sherlock struggle to hold back tears.”

ok so I've seen the gifs I know the lines but NOTHING could have prepared me for "I was dying when we first met" in real time !!! what a fucking roller coaster ride that last ep was, damn.
