Face Mites as Proof of the Existence of God
You may or may not know this, but there are tiny mites that live on your face.
The pores on your face are home to thousands, perhaps even millions, of microscopic mites that typically only come out at night, which is when the females mate with roaming male mites, and then return to your pores to feast on your facial oils, give birth--and explode. Or so scientists think. (We really don’t know much about these mites yet.)
So even though these tiny creatures have inhabited human faces since the first human walked the Earth, we have only recently discovered their existence. They existed before our minds and technology could conceive, detect or locate them. (Let that sink in.)
From the perspective of the mites, it would probably seem as though they are the end-all, be-all; there are no other beings greater than they. This is underscored by the fact that when the mites surface, their human hosts are typically asleep and not moving. How could these microscopic creatures have any idea of the vastness of the world that exists beyond themselves? Even if they are aware of the fact that their homes are themselves living, breathing entities, how could these mites know that their homes (the human face) are only a small part of the entire organism (the human body), all of which are a part of a network of billions of individual people who are capable of moving around freely on their own living, breathing home (planet Earth) and leading complex lives???
Put simply, these face mites would be foolish to assume that the small holes in which they eat and “sleep,” the limited surface on which they roam, and the tiny portions of skin on which they mate make up the entirety of the universe--that there is absolutely NOTHING beyond what their simple “brains” are able to perceive and their simple “minds” are able to conceive.
It’s fascinating to think about the fact that these creatures have been a part of the human existence THE ENTIRE TIME, yet we are only JUST NOW finding out about them. Ultimately, our ignorance of them did not equate to the cessation of their existence.
