Higher Beings (part 2)
part 1
*you recieve a spoon*
Ah, a spoon! Ive been needing one *creige tucks away the spoon before sitting down, the rustle of fabric and faint drone of hymms can be heard* well its been a while friends! And for that i do apologise, i have been rather busy as of late. Right now i am currently hiding in one of the abandoned rooms of the citadel, and believe me i plan to depart as swiftly as possible. Despite this cults obsession i have always somewhat appreciated the citadels structure. Its practices? Stars above no but it is quite a beautiful thing really. But really, trapesing through here has allowed me much time to think of gods and the such, despite my likely well known... distaste of higher beings. But ill start of quite frankly, i dont believe that these gods are truly gods at all. Heh, blasphemous i know but this is what i think, the gods that inhabit these worlds are simply bugs such as us, powerful bugs yes but still bugs. Limited to the cycles of life and death despite their long lives making them seem immortal compared to our comparativly short ones. Bugs perhaps that have been able to master the world around us much like us common folk have, only to a much higher degree. If the some bugs are able to master their surrlundings or the forces of this world then whos to say that we are not gods ourselves? Perhaps gods are merely a title we have forced upon these bugs as a form of catagorisation, the sands of time long stripping away their meanings until none remember save for the gods themselves. But why would they tell us? Who wouldnt want to elevate themselves above their others in more than just size or strength? Who wouldnt want to be cared and worshiped? Who wouldnt want to feel special in a world that continues to remind us constantly that we are merely a part of it.
...
Perhaps that is why gods call themselves gods. They wish to break free of the world around them and stand seperate from it, chanting that "i am in control, i am different, i will not be forgotten". But that is the fate of all things eventually, regardless of your powers within the world. But i leave you with one message travellers, despits this inevitability that does not mean your name will not echo throughout history through your deeds to the ones around you, to be kind and caring without the need for a god to dicatate you so, to be the one that dares to face on a world merely for suggesting that to face it is impossible. Live well, and live happy friends.
I recognize this might be an unpopular opinion:
Some thoughts on Higher Beings born of observations in gameplay:
Grand Mother Silk : inferior to the Pale Wyrm, and would have lost horribly in any fight between the two. Pale King might have had some trouble, but not once the White Lady backed him up. Silk's also not very smart, and doesn't fight smart.
Radiance is equal in power to Wyrm, but was not accessible for him to HIT. At all. The many measures he had to take to confine her were in no small part because he couldn't get AT her. How to fight a foe one cannot reach? Dung Defender spells that out.
Grimm at the height of his power outclasses just about everyone; but the Ritual is not the height of his power. This is based partly on the Radiance being apparently unable to prevent Grimm's independence, and only managing to wall him off : "One realm now must stay apart." He's also cheerfully unbeholden to anyone, doesn't even acknowledge Radiance, his troupe traverses the worst bits of infected hallownest without fear, and is not afraid of Void. Where everyone else deals with it very cautiously; at best- or lives to regret not being cautions enough.
Pharloom: bigger than Hallownest, but a lot less advanced in every particular. Hallownest is still working, derelict and without much maintenance, whereas the cogwork in Pharloom requires constant work and is still falling apart.
Grayroot: IS NOT RELATED TO THE WHITE LADY! GREYROOT DOESN'T RESEMBLE THE WHITE LADY AT ALL! WHERE ARE PEOPLE GETTING THIS IDEA THAT HORNET GOT TRICKED BY GREYROOT BECAUSE OF ANY RESEMBLANCE TO THE LADY?
Radiance: smart and fights smart; first unfocused and angry, then retreating and regrouping, focused; careful to stay out of range of the thing she knew to fear Grimm fought performative. Silk? my impression on fighting her was more of someone who thrashes around, haughty, used to outclassing everything in the area. Might be because she just woke up- but her mind had clearly been awake for a some time even if her body wasn't. Hard to say. Radiance also knew to get out of dodge if possible the moment Void struck. and escaped its grasp twice before being brought down above the clouds. Silk ... doesn't.
Void is not a Higher Being. VOID is Something Else. Ghost as Void Given Form or Void Given Focus- that's complicated.
Ghost was a Higher Being the moment we first meet it, arriving at the King's Pass. Ghost is still a higher Being. Ghost is also Void. These two states are not mutually exclusive.
That Statue at Hallownest's Crown may or may not be Radiance's original body.
What Silk did with the Pharlids to make the Weavers is about how Radiance made the Both Tribe. Unn MAY have done the same with plants. She also might not.
Random other Thoughts:
Green Prince and the Verdaians aren't Mantises. They're grasshoppers.
Foolish bug, to enter my domain is a wish for death.
So, what is this? A way to communicate with other bugs? I feel no need for such thing, but I shall try it anyways.

Do you have any thoughts on possible NKG and GMS siblings? We haven't seen many other higher beings and theres implied to be more of them
there are definitely other higher beings, we've seen several (even if dead) and there's definitely been more implied. that's not the same thing as NKG or GMS having siblings though. not all higher beings are related — NKG and Radiance is purely speculation and if PK and WL were related beyond marriage the game would've said "sister-wife" or something similar.
for someone to be siblings they need to come from the same source or grow up together. so far, the only two that have that connection is the Radiance and NKG. it's possible other higher beings may have siblings, but i don't think PK or WL are among those. WL may have a "kind" evidenced by Greyroot but given the uniqueness of Pale beings it's unlikely. We know Wyrms are a proper species so PK might but since there's no information on what separates a Pale creature from a normal, again, it's improbable.
I don't thiiiiiiink GMS does for the same reasons, but since Silksong will have more DLC in the future I guess I can't totally write it out.
Really, looking at it narratively/thematically, I don't think many other Higher Beings have siblings or consider their siblings if they do. They are naturally territorial, the Paleness nonwithstanding, and maybe tragically doomed? The gods of storm/thunder that the Godseeker once served perished or disappeared, the Dream realm was split and would never be whole again, and the union between Hornet's Pale parents ended with half dead. It could be that even if Higher Beings crop up with another that the relationships simply peter out or are cast away as natural consequence of their nature.
I’m back! And I drew my interpretation of all the higher beings!
