1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

Not much to dislike! He was decades ahead of the 'pathetic yearning divorced man' curve. I love the way he talks...his snark... he is so uppity and fun :) and always ready to shit on Frasier just like meeee

6. What's something you have in common with this character?

Other than the above mentioned Frasier dunking hmmm I guess just the general dork energy. The awkward 😬 smile and lack of Regular and Cool interests lol

9. Could you be roommates with this character?

Ohhhhhh................I think so. I'd rather be with someone that's a clean freak versus messy, so that's fine. The occasional jabs about my Lower Tastes would get annoying but tbh he's gonna be out most nights of the week at an opera or wine club meeting so! I want to use him for fancy food access...

25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?

Lmao after @pileontheyears developed a Niles obsession I was so curious...what was the secret ingredient this sitcom man had?? What makes him so special? I understood as I watched Frasier. He really is that perfect blend of funny and embarrassing and charming. No difference in opinion, my appreciation only deepened...and now NormNiles is one of my top priorities 🏳️‍🌈🫡

What makes you love this ship so much? I've been genuinely curious for a while now if this is something you want to spend time verbalizing hahaha

this might be slightly incoherent since im sleepy but idk man 

it’s like... a combination of their history together and the tragicness of that and their personalities (or at least the slightly OOC personalities I headcanon them as to make them more realistic in my opinion). The amount of potential of those two factors alone makes me like it. i really like the idea two of both of them shutting themselves off to love only too to eventually be undeniably attracted to each other which then leads to mutual pining 😤 i also think their cold war history would allow for them to spend lots of time together (i mean okay you’ve read awh so basically that’s all my headcanons there) and develop a healthy relationship (as humans) versus other cold war ships, but that’s just my own personal opinion. i think im always a sucker too for the trope of a big scary man (russia) catching feelings and turning into an emotional mess, and i really like how that dynamic works with china, someone who is ancient and has kind of given up on love and only thinks this flirting thing with russia is just a surface level thing until he realizes he’s also fallen hard

and that is why i’ll be 60 and still think about rochu.. it’s like everything i want in a ship

[edit] and power dynamics! i really like that there is no power imalance between them and that they’re equals. some fan portrayls ... grossly skew this which i dont like, but yeah haha -- some ships have big power imbalances in terms of history which im never a fan of
