Ellen Kramer
Character Concept: Ellen and Danielle/Nelle
Okay, quick summary, just taking the concept of "my high school self-insert OC Yar Kramer updated as a trans lesbian": two transbians for the price of one. Rambly, just getting this thing out there
Last night I dreamed that I was in an El Goonish Shive movie which was a space opera. I was wondering in the dream if Grace would appear, and she did: an egg fell from the sky like a meteor (not quite right!) and she hatched from it on-camera; she was immediately identified as a Seyunolu. There weren't really any other elements from EGS that I can remember, and the only other actual person who appeared besides Grace was myself (my full RL name was used) and I think an unnamed Uryuom.
In lieu of transporter beams, we traveled around in these doors which opened like portals -- like, you'd enter the coordinates, or connect to another door, and the door would open up leading to your destination. (Another case of "oooh, almost!") I knew-in-the-dream that the plot was getting kicked into gear when the Uryuom and I were on a space station some time after Grace was brought onboard, we tried to return to our ship, and we couldn't connect to it from the station's portal-doors.
When I woke up, I briefly imagined that instead of me-as-myself, it could have used my OC Ellen Kramer, but then I thought: wait a minute ...
I slept kind of fitfully last night, and I dreamed that Ellen Kramer, the updated trans version of my high school self-insert OC, was ascending this unspecified building, getting into shounen battle-manga fights with evil lesbians or something. Ellen had a scarf that could become electrified, which was of course her iconic weapon (an electrified scarf is not and has never been her iconic weapon).
Eileen Kramer Lived to Create and Never Stopped.
Ellen's Jojo stand is "Stop", and Nelle has "Watch", both of which initially appear to grant them super-speed. However, they eventually discover that it's actually time-manipulation, and they then respectively unlock the abilities of "Stop -THE WORLD-" and "Watch -THE WORLD-"
(ok all of these except Stop the Word were "within the first three hits I could find that were actually that exact song title"; nevertheless, this selection should tell you a lot about the difference between Ellen Kramer and Danielle Lancaster/Nelle Remark.)
I dreamed that I was in this advenure game, or something, where my perspective was, like ... sent through different eras, or something? Or possibly instead of me it was Ellen Kramer, the updated trans version of my high school self-insert OC. Also, there was this blonde woman who had, like ... an appearance in every era. I know that in one "era" she was some kind of explorer or something, and I was some Ancient Being. In another, she was a flapper girl who was having trouble with the mob, and I was just my normal traveller-self. When I was uploading this to youtube (an unhitherto-mentioned aspect of all this), I immediately realized that I'd messed something up, and since it was already uploaded, I wasn't sure I'd be able to, y'know, change things. Also since this was the 1920's, there were "out-of-universe" concerns somehow about racism, but I dunno what that was about because that's basically exactly how much detail was in the dream.
A few nights ago I had a dream in which I was playing a hypertext game which I had created. The dream couldn't decide whether it was these different rooms you could move through freely, or if it was linear and plot-based; however, it did specify that I created it on multiple websites -- like, with static text, and stuff -- and one of the websites I made it on was the H2G2, an attempt by Douglas Adams in the late 90's to realize the eponymous Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy but as an actual Earth-made encyclopedia. Dreaming-me quickly realized that it wasn't exactly trivial to keep track of the game's state (inventory, etc) in an entirely static website; the dream first decided that the solution was to use Javascript, and then immediately remembered that you can't use Javascript on a website like that; the second one was to politely asking the player to keep track of it themself; and then decided that the solution was to make multiples of every single page for each possible state.
There was a bit where you got attacked by Nelle Remark, the evil twin of the updated trans version of my high school self-insert OC Ellen Kramer (note how they're spelled backwards); this resulted in the space ship you were on catching fire. The game then opened a popup window where you had to type in commands to try to put out the fire, and I had a ridiculously difficult time figuring out which commands to input.
