How’s blaming me gonna help?
The boys try to give Jack and Kathy a heads up about Elsa/Alan but are unable to reach them. Both Elsa and Alan show up (Elsa manhandling Andy) and won’t budge until they see Alice. Nick has given his full backing to Kathy. Elsa tries to pull Alice out of the car roughly then isn’t too much kinder in Jack’s home (‘always playing the little madam!’) clearly scaring not only Alice but the others there. Meanwhile, Viv tries to get more signatures on the petition, namely Bernice and Tricia. Gifs will be posted separated.

Jack is off to take Kathy and Alice to see Nick (off screen) but before they leave Andrew shows up with something for them. Andy isn’t looking forward to court the next day (with Robert makes truthful gibes at him) and is determined things will be different. Edna and Viv are a pair of busybodies when it comes to the phone mast, their opinions on Kathy and Alice and those involved in the hit and run. Supposedly, most of the village is behind Edna’s petition. Victoria causes trouble mentioning Alice. Gifs will be posted separately.

Well as you ladies both know, being a good parent doesn’t guarantee you good children, does it?
No Robert. As we enter the final month of 2001, Jack isn’t too thrilled with Kathy staying with him even if it is for a few days (‘kidnapping is a serious offense’) worrying he could be charged for harboring her if word gets out. Edna isn’t doing so well with getting signatures for her anti-phone mast initiative. Elsa’s character is considered quite low by certain villagers as she bemoans Kathy. Jack lets Andrew know Kathy is staying at his to ease his worry. Jack offers his viewpoint to Kathy on kids being taken away based on circumstances.

Goodbye Alice Bates
Last appearance of Alice & Elsa until Nov/Dec-2001 when both show up in a few more episodes then it’s goodbye for good. What also is apparent in these scenes is the quality of the scenes all round which include a key component lacking these days - heart.

Classic Emmerdale
Nick is telling Kathy that he's going to tell Elsa the good news, that they're getting married.
Later telling Rachel as well that he's marrying Elsa.
Mate, try asking Elsa first, not telling her. 😒
Classic Emmerdale & Elsa has just got pregnant after sleeping with Kathy's brother Nick.
A coat switch resulted in Nick not having his condoms to hand, but they slept together anyway. With Nick reassuring a worried Elsa that you can't even get pregnant the first time you have sex. 🤔
At least classic Emmerdale showed on screen that unplanned pregnancy could come about from lack of knowledge etc.
Unlike now when it seems that villagers clued up on contraception etc are just careless & having pregnancy scares all over the place.
