My second day backpacking the South Egan Range Wilderness, I climbed up the high point in the morning. That's Adams benchmark. Then I got back to Ninemile Canyon for water, then traveled down to Sheep Pass Canyon and found camp on a small branch.

Meadow Valley Wash Linear Park

Caliente city park. See the water flowing in the desert along this park. Also visits to a high spot in the canyon and local cemeteries.

South Egan: Alternate Peak

Bristlecone BLM. Off to check more springs and top out at the "high point" of the wilderness as claimed by one information sign. Then finish

The third and last day in South Egan Range Wilderness, I headed up a peak identified as the high point on a trailhead sign. It is in error, but it is an interesting peak all the same. Though easy on one side, it is a high cliff on the other. I stopped to check on a spring first, then hiked a long way out with dark falling before I finished.

South Egan: Ninemile Canyon and Mountain

I went backpacking in the South Egan Range Wilderness for three days, heading up to the top of a peak once for each. The first day was wandering up Ninemile Canyon and around the hills until the top of Ninemile Mountain, then off to camp near high plateaus.
