Ok so I know you're getting a lot of asks about The Fitting rn, which I love, but I have one for Unexpected. When Yoongi kept rejecting the OC and blaming it on stress in the very beginning of the story, was that really it? Or was it something else? Just wondering!
SPOILER ALERT
The short answer is, no. Yoongi used the excuse of stress about work to avoid having to address the fact that their relationship was becoming a bit stale. The OC was also concerned about how things had become a mundane for the two of them and was trying to spice things up. I think it’s a common issue for longer term couples... eventually the initial feelings of romance wears off and you need to do the hard work of building a relationship purposefully together, which requires communication and effort. I imagined that they were at that point in their relationship, which is either when things fall apart or they work together to building a lasting love. The OC was ready to take on that challenge, but Yoongi wanted to ignore everything in hopes it would go away on it’s own. Throughout the story, you can see that one of his main character traits is holding everything in rather than talk about his real concerns. He doesn’t like making himself vulnerable that way and it’s a major source of problems between the two of them.
