Emma O'Reilly. Musician. Conductress. @emmaormusic Was a perfect choice for my 80th and final piece in this project. She is my guiding light, my number one supporter in all I do and my shoulder to cry on. This picture by @laurasheeran____x captures Emma so wonderfully. A feminist saint, mysterious and powerful. You never know what she will come out with, be it fierce bravery or delicate vulnerability. She is an incredible musician, a devoted artist, a loving sister and an incomparable friend. She is moving away next week, so it was perfect timing for this final selfie. A year ago I began the repeal selfies. Black and white pen-drawings depicting men women who are claiming a stance in the movement to repeal the eighth amendment. This represents the fight for choice. The fight for women to govern their own bodies. Which, as far as that is concerned, is a black-and-white issue. The world fears powerful women who decide for themselves. It is they who decide whether humankind survives. It is they who give life. It is they who nurture. It is they who are oppressed. The most powerful race is that of womankind, and their right and privilege to their body is taken by the entrapment of pregnant women. It is a fearful, patriarchal system that takes the most vulnerable time in a woman's life and use it as an ambitious opportunity. Women are not slaves. Powerful Women are not witches. They are people. Solidarity. Support your sisters!! Overcome! Repeal the eighth! #feminist #repealthe8th #repealtheeighth #innerselfie #hannahoreillyart #emmaoreilly #emmaoreillymusic
