If you say it enough times, it becomes true
I just started watching this season of the bachelor - I have NEVER watched this show. And these girls... they are emotional train wrecks and he is just totally fine with it! NBD! And he is emotionally AVAILABLE - crying alllll the time. Like what the fuck is this? The upside down?
Yo! I’m an entp, but I think I might have bpd traits, or maybe I’m just generally emotionally unstable (only in front of close people. Otherwise, I’m like a stone emotionally-wise). Any advices for this? I’m super stressed cause I’m very rational but also emotionally unstable and it’s getting tiring and contradicting you know
Hey! So if you think you have bpd, you should probably go to a professional and not allow yourself to wiki-diagnose that. Based on this though, I feel as if bpd wouldn’t be something you could control only around certain people, and you’re probably more comfortable around your close people. As a result, you’re probably putting on less of a facade around them--you’re relaxed and you’re not putting on your tough face or entertainment face.
Let me tell you though, as a female who has gone through all of the hormones, I am the definition of ‘emotionally unstable ENTP’ (though I wouldn’t even call it this... just a human ENTP). When dealing with friends problems and any rational type problem, I have no problem with stepping back and providing objective, rational responses. But when I’m around the right people, I put a blanket over my head when I talk about crushes, and I tear up at those dog videos that have Celine Dion on in the background. Only those who I’m close to see this side of me.
ENTPs are not stones. When things happen to us, our natural response is to deal with it by thinking it out and applying, but we can be hurt, offended, saddened, pleased, super excited, whatever. Just a few weeks ago I thought I was rejected by someone (lol I wasn’t buut), I discussed it very rationally with a few friends, came home, laid all the facts home to my housemate, and then I went to my room (so so sad), I couldn’t eat or work, so I went to bed at 8. And the point is that people who ENTPs are not close to tend not to see our emotional range. We like to appear to be rational when it matters, and we dislike appearing vulnerable around those who we’re not totally comfortable around.
So it’s not a bad thing! It’s important that if you have emotions, you have someone to express them to. Genuinely, I think that ENTPs who express their emotions, grow comfortable with this, and own it are the smartest and strongest ENTPs there are. There’s a lot to be said about not wanting to appear vulnerable. But then there’s a lot more to be said about allowing yourself to be vulnerable around the right people with control and moderation.
Emotions happen! It doesn’t make you more or less ENTP. And though it may feel a bit contradicting when you read up on our stereotypes, just know that it’s totally natural, and you can make it work out for you.
