Menstrual cycle - 60 days
I was very unsure of when my period was going to arrive. The longest cycles I usually had was 45 days and I was expecting it to arrive at 35 days. There had been lots of excitement with my embryo result and very keen to do an implantation so it's as if all the momentum got put on hold. I messaged a few friends letting them know I'd stop the updates because it's as if I was now putting pressure on myself to become pregnant by X date. At around cycle day 38 I started to get some spotting but it was a very dark brown blood. Then nothing further happened so I was unsure if that was my period. I did a blood test with the IVF nurses and that showed that my estrogen was high so I was due to get a period - therefore that spotting wasn't it. A couple of days prior to that spotting, my acupuncturist had put lots of heat there so maybe my body was just releasing stuff it didn't need.
Jess recommended foods to eat lots of:
Chinese red dates and goji berries.
chard, silverbeet, spinach.
beetroot. carrot and pumpkin or sweat potato.
bone broth everyday if you can.
some seaweed in your cooking.
some algae for the omega 3s to plump up your lining and help with healing gut lining.
She also suggested I get a abdominal massage which I did from my masseuse. She was so generous and gave me an extra 45 minutes so I had a full 2 hour session.
The following week I had another kinesiology appointment and we tried to do lots of releasing. Lots of warmth with a heat pack on the womb.
I commenced a japa meditation sadhana with a group of women. Our mantra is based on Lakshmi which is perfect because she embodies fertility. I repeat the japa of 108 beads 3 times per day.
The following Sunday, I went to a sound healing where I held the intention to trust in my body. I pulled a card at the end which said 'Nature' which was nice since I'd planned a hike for the upcoming week.
On cycle day 60 I started spotting and I was very hopeful that my period would arrive. And it did. I had already planned to have the day off before my birthday and went for a hike at Purling Brook falls. After lots of rain, I was lucky to have a clear day and see rainbows. I sat at the falls to do some japa and drink some blue lotus tea. A kookaburra visited me when I ate my lunch. A kookaburra is a sign to laugh and look on the bright side of life.
I hadn't planned on telling my friends of when my period would arrive but I was very happy on my birthday and continued to share the good news because I was in a good mood. I'm now currently taking tablets (that look like the contraceptive pill) 3 times per day. On Monday 22 July, I'll go in for a follicular scan to see how things are looking.
